Saw Human Centipede on the rack a couple of weeks ago, but I just couldn't bring myself to bring it home...not really into that kind of slash-horror. I did pick it up and carry it around for a few minutes but I put it back. <shudder> I wanted to support Dieter in all his after-Lexx endeavors, but this was not a possibility. I can't get through Saw without wincing, never mind the Lexx alumni credit.
Who here has seen this film? Is it something that bears watching? Just the cover art on the DVD was disturbing.

Human Centipede is not as gory as people keep saying it is. Very little gore it's mostly left to the imagination-although that could be worse than actually seeing it.

Well I suppose the discomfort is all in the eye of the beholder. I got about 4 seconds into the trailer and had to switch it. Not to say that Dieter didn't pull of the best 'Mad Scientist' bit since Mantrid, but I couldn't watch a bunch of kids gulping at each other's rectums, sorry.

Thanks LOADS for searing that one into my brain again, Maya. Fuck. Just when I'd been able to repress it again. The DVD cover was beyond me. Those three kids lined up. TMI.
I can't even READ about anal sex without thinking about genital warts.
Pass the Brain Bleach, please. Sheesh.

Funny you should mention Saw in the same breath, because it actually has a Lexx connection too! David Hackl, who served as production designer during seasons 2-4 also served as production designer and second unit director on several of the Saw flicks, and actually directed one of the (truly abysmal) later entries. Shakespeare it ain't, but here's hoping it opened some doors for him. Same goes for Dieter. I have no interest in seeing HC myself, and while the film itself is apparently the very definition of polarizing, reviews of his performance have been almost universally positive.
Dude might be right about to get another leg up...apparently the latest episode of South Park is, in part, a Human Centipede parody! I'm sure they'll approach the subject matter with their customary playful, reserved nuance.

Well, duh, Bilbo, thanks for sharing.
How clever of you to get my reference. Kudos!
Not news to me but others may find it so. Last edited on Thu Apr 28th, 2011 09:20 pm by PeridotEyes

*facepalm* Honestly didn't even catch your reference, I read the post so fast. I thought you were just tossing the title out there for comparison's sake.
I guess the moral of this story is that I only THOUGHT I could speed read.
*sigh* Yeah, I'm sorry to say, I wound up following that series right off the cliff. Not that anything with the roman numeral "V" in it has ever been anything short of a total disaster (Henry V and The Empire Strike Back don't count!), but I was honestly rooting for Hackl's entry to defy every horror sequel convention known to man and become some kind of seminal, genre-bending new American classic. Instead it sucked harder than an F5 (not to be outdone, the two films that followed upped the ante to the point where the final entry descended to full-blown gravitational singularity territory!).

No worries, Bilbo. The only reason I attempted the Saw franchise at all was the Lexx connection...and I tried, I really tried, but I couldn't.
What do they call it? Hyperhorror? Horror porn? Whatever it is, it's just too ick. For me, that is. To each their, of course.

To gently nudge this thread back on track, a question:
do I dare even ask what "Bad German" is? 0_o

Confession: I did see the connection to the Lexx series in Saw; especially the clown/human processing machine in GigaShadow. [/intellectual portion of this post]
Unfortunately the humour part and the tragic lost Kai, the beautiful Xev/Zev, the bumbling Stanley Tweedle and insanity of a lost robot head were all lacking from the franchise so there was nothing for me in Saw. Not to mention I saw several ways around the puzzle, none of which were attempted by the nitwits in the scenario. Dumfucks that they were.
