Ok, a hot new series on HBO called "True Blood", based on Charlaine Harris's "Southern Vampire" books, (8 so far) featuring Anna Paquin and Stehpen Moyer.
Set in swampy rural North Louisiana (filmed in Shreveport and Spring Bayou), the series explores the relationships between regular country folk (or are they?) and the newly 'outed' Vampire society, who now want just what we want, the right to vote, buy their own property and pay taxes...in other words, they're trying to reassimilate themselves back into human society with the Japanese invention of a human blood substitute called "True Blood", which allieviates the vampire's need to kill for food.
Now if they could just eliminate the need to kill for fun, things might just get off to a good start.
Sookie Stackhouse is a waitress in a bayou bar called "Merlottes", who meets her first vampire, the smolderingly handsome 'Bill", who was related to folks in town (Bon Temps) in the 1800's and wants to start by hooking up with the virginal Sookie, who has a secret of her own, she's telepathic and can read minds of everyone BUT Bill, which makes her all the more intrigued by his manner and mysteries.
Needless to say this series is going to be a hot one, TONS of sex, nudity and some hilariously graphic scenes with the co-stars is just the start. In spite of the fact that it's based in La, and the 'Cajun" accents sound more like Hispanic, I still love this series.
It comes on Sunday nights, and repeats on all the HBO channels all week. It's up to Episode 4 so far, don't miss it..
HOT GUYS Y'ALL !

Sounds kind of quirky, something I'd like, wish I got HBO, I wouldn't mind seeing it.

Wow I have to say, it was a roller coaster ride for those 12 episodes...what a rush! Lots of cliffhangers too, but it wrapped up the loose ends nicely and we get to see more love scenes !
Good news is, they're starting production S2, and that won't be out til next SUMMER !!
WTF?

For those of you just getting HBO now, True Blood (hottest rated show on HBO) is going to start re-running the first season on Jan.12, one episode per night until the season is over on HBO Zone East and West. Then it will start re-running again in Feb. Check your local listings.

Wow, see what I get for not checking up on things over here more often?
I really wish I'd been on the bandwagon for this one - I never missed an episode, and if I'd thought you all were promoting it over here, I would have been all over this thread during the shows initial run.
I will warn anyone thinking about reading the books however, these are straight up Romance/Mystery novels, written in a very straight-forward fashion. If you're expecting flavor and prose, buy a Anne Rice novel - but if you want a thinly-veiled Barbara Cartland Romance with vampires (and oodles of other mystical, mythical creatures - in fact, someone has some Fairy blood in them) and carnage, the Sookie Stackhouse books are probably something you'd enjoy.
I'm currently 40 pages shy of finishing #7, "All Together Dead", but I swear, it's just research 'cause the show's so cool. I wouldn't want anyone thinking I read thinly-veiled Barbara Cartland Romance novels (with vampires) just for fun now would I?
