I just came back from seeing Fool's Gold with Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson. It reminds me alot of the movie Sahara he was in with alot of fun and adventure, I liked the movie the movie alot. They go in search of gold and treasure from a sunken Spanish ship and encounter the help of Multi-Millionaire Nigel played by Donald Sutherland and his daughter Gemma. I really like the chemistry between Matthew and Kate, they are a good romantic combination.

I just saw the most fabulous movie I've seen in quite a long time, it was so good I had to come here and recommend it!
HOT FUZZ from the UK 2007
A British constable feels certain foul play is afoot when grisly accidents rock his quiet village.
It's a police film with drama and comedy and the word play is spot on peeps! I really enjoyed it, full of action and comedy which is kinda hard to explain but still it really worked! If you catch it, watch it, it played on CINEMAX. There are few movies I would give 5 wormy apples because I'm rather a cynic when it comes to movies..but this one is worth 2 hours of your time! The one star in it was Timothy Dalton and he plays the sinister character..he's good! Yup 5 wormy apples for this one!

Well I never went to the movie's, the movie's came to me.
I also got to see Hot Fuzz and it was really funny.
**********************
I also watch Ratatouille which was about a rat who could cook. Very amusing.
*********************
I also got to watch with some friends a movie called The No 1 Ladies Detective, partly written and directed by the late Anthony Minghella, who also wrote The English Patient which is another excellent movie.
Anyway The No 1 Ladies Detective was filmed and set in Botswana, Africa and the two main ladies actress's in it were really good. Jill Scott and Anika Noni Rose. It was really funny in parts but also had a serious side to it and although it is a fictional story it has many under current issues that affect these people in real life. I recommend it to anyone. The BBC board casted it so maybe BBC America might do too.

Sounds like you scored some good movies, I've heard a little bit about Hot Fuzz and heard it was really funny.

Tau ming chong (The Warlords) - not as good as Chang Cheh's variation on killing of Ma Xinyi (Blood Brothers) - but almost...
Jet Li and Andy Lau are fantastic and Takeshi Kaneshiro is not bad either... (And Andy and Takeshi look much better than they did in House of Flying Daggers...;-) Not to mention that The Warlords is a much much better movie...:-))
But I think that Peter Chan should have chosen between the love triangle stuff and the clash of attitudes and principles between Ma and Zhao, and focus on one or the other... And since Chang Cheh did such a superb job with the love triangle in Blood Brothers, Chan just could have abandoned the love affair thing altogether and gone all the way for the conflict between Ma and Zhao's philosophies and morals...
But what the hell - the movie's good enough as it is... (And there's even a little bit of Opera in it... And of course - all the mud and blood and rags and dirt... Aaaaaah...:-))

I went to see 27 dresses yesterday. It was about this woman who was not only a bridesmaid but arranged their dos to until her sister turns up on the scene and takes off with her boss who she is secretly in love with and then other arise too. It's good light hearted comedy. The end of the movie has real good twist to it.

Varrtan: Yep, Valerie is a classic. Haven't seen it yet but I plan to...
If you like Alice in Wonderland type of stuff or twisted variations on it, I highly recommend Svankmajer's Alice. It's a very playful and somewhat dark-ish surrealistic adaptation of Alice in Wonderland.
Today I re-watched a movie that totally freaked me out years ago, when I accidentally spotted it on an austrian TV channel (for - back then - I was not really prepared for what I was about to see)...
It's an animated movie, a little German gem from 1994 called Felidae. A creepy film about a cat that tries to solve a very mysterious series of brutal murders (of cats) in the neighborhood. There's a mysterious cult, a great deal of blood, gore and some truly disturbing images, it's got atmosphere and style and a great story, there's suspense and mystery - and a wonderful final showdown. Kinda like a feline film noir mixed with X Files mixed with anime mixed with an old Universal horror flick. Great stuff.
And I've seen Egoyan's Ararat just a couple of hours ago. Fantastic film.
