It's a good story, but I agree about the 3rd book not quite matching the speed and story detail that the first 2 books did. But then again, I might be biased, I didn't really like the way it ended.

BTW 'One For The Money' the first Stephanie Plum novel will open in theaters in about 3 weeks.

I finished reading the first 3 books of the 'Iron Druid' series. "Hounded", "Hexed", "Hammered" I can hardly wait for the new book to come out in April. They are very good stories. I love the main character's dog!

Just finished reading 'Tricked' The Iron Druid Series Book 4. I've really gotten hooked on this series.  It's great if you're into folklore and action/adventure with a humorous twist. I especially love Oberon, the Irish Wolf Hound. :cool:

YUP CHESSIE..I was first in line..loved it!! for a movie it tried it's very best to stay true to the book..but I still think Benjamin Bratt would have made an even better Ranger..it was very enjoyable if you are fan..:2567:

Benjamin Bratt was a Power Ranger?  I'll be durned.  Aw well, gotta start somewhere.

Don't really go in for a lot of fantasy, but I gave myself over to the Song of Ice and Fire after trying to jump into Game of Thrones (the HBO adaptation, which takes its title from the first book in the series) mid-season and running out of breath and saliva from constantly repeating, "What's happening?" and "Who the hell is that?"

Enjoyed the first cinder-block-sized entry enough to immediately pick up the second, though I'm still a bit leery.  I've been bit on the ass by long, initially promising book series before (still owe Stephen King a flaying for driving the Dark Tower series right off a cliff), and furthermore, I'm always a little gunshy when it comes to unfinished series by authors of a certain age (in this case, pushing 70 years and 400lbs, with at least two more installments to come and a five year lead time between the past couple of books!)

I'm about half way through 'The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest' by Stieg Larsson. It's the 3rd book in the 'Girl with the Dragon Ta too' series. Really good action/adventure/mystery series.

audio books anyone uses them or have tried it out? How did you guys like if you have? I have no time for books but I have a tone id like to check out. Or always lose them and finding months or a year later if I do get a book. It's sad lol so audio books could be a good alternative for me till I have time.

It's sad lol so audio books could be a good alternative for me till I have time.I use audio books all the time because I have a hard time reading the small print in regular print books.  Audio books are great!  Most of the narrators/performers are actors. They are picked fora specific book depending on their language skills, ability to do multiple character voices, and sometimes subject matter knowledge (especially for more technical books)

When I first moved to Denver back in the mid 80's, I worked for 'Talking Books Publishing Company'.  That was back in the day b4 audio books were available to the general public. At that time audio books were recorded for use by visually impaired and physically disabled people through state 'Talking Book Libraries'. (that was so long ago that the books were recorded on 8 or 16 rpm vynal records, well b4 cassettes) I went through high school using talking books for various book reports, so it was really cool to be able to meed the narrators that I had been listening to for years.

I especially like audio books because I can listen to a book while I cook or do housework etc.  These days most books are available on either CD or download. They're great entertainment. I LOVE THEM!

Reading through Panama Patchwork... Still not decided how much I actually like the whole collection, but I sure have fallen in love with this:

You are going to have the fever,
Yellow eyes!
In about ten days from now
Iron bands will clamp your brow;
Your tongue resemble curdled cream,
A rusty streak the centre seam;
Your mouth will taste of untold things
With claws and horns and fins and wings;
Your head will weigh a ton or more,
And forty gales within it roar!
...

Good good good, in this fucking heat I need the goosebumps!

She had a real cool astronomy app (don't remember the name off hand) that allowed her to hold her tablet up to the sky and it would show her the major constellations and planets in real time. It was really cool at night to have the names or stars & planets and the app would even work during the day when you couldn't see the stars but still know they're up there.
