There are a couple of ways to get to our chatroom #lexxtalk on irc.fef.net. If you don’t want to use the java chat portal that we have and you are using a windows based computer you can use a program called mirc. You can download this program at http://www.mirc.com and install it. Once it’s installed, then go through the following steps to get yourself set up with a nick and the chatroom server. Here are some pictures and instructions on how to get yourself set up and ready to chat! When you open the mirc program it may ask you to continue, just click on continue and follow the next steps. Mirc gives you a free 30 day trial, but as long as you keep clicking on continue, you can use mirc forever for free.
After you install mirc, you want to find the mirc options box, and the best way to find it is to click on file then select server, and the mirc options box will pop up (or you may find it under file and options). When it does, click on the connect category to set up your nickname:
Under full name you can put anything you want, as also in the email field. In the nickname field put your normal chat nickname and in the alternative and alternate nickname. After you have filled in those fields look back to the left column, you’re still in the mirc options box, click on Servers and the screen will appear like this:
Under IRC network is a drop down arrow, click on that and look for the server called FefNet, when you find it, click on that and your mirc options will look like the picture above. Now you’re ready to chat. Just click on connect to server and it will connect you to the chat server. Once you are on the chat server type /join #lexxtalk (the slash key must be in front of the word join) and hit enter and you’ll be in the chat room! Now that you've set up the chat program, the information for the chatserver and your nickname will be in for the next time you use the program. Next time you open it, just always click on continue, and connect to the server and type /join #lexxtalk to join the room there after.
If you have a Mac computer, you can still use the java chat program, there is also an irc program called ircle at http://www.ircle.com/ I am not familiar with this program, so you’d have to follow the site’s help guide. Another program called Xchat will work both for windows and Mac based computers available at http://www.xchat.org/ right on the site they have a quick start guide that is very simple and takes you through the steps on how to set up your nick, the irc server and how to join the channel. The Fefnet server is already pre-built into Xchat’s list of servers. After you connect to the server Xchat will have a pop up box and you click on join this channel and type in the box #lexxtalk and click on OK and it will bring you right into the room. I believe that Xchat gives you a free 30 day trial, but if you uninstall it after 30 days and redownload it, you should be able to keep on using it.

One point though..
that little button that is clicked saying invisible mode..don't click it..more trouble than it's worth..

| I downloaded BOTH of those programs suggested from Angel and i dont really get the hang of it. i probably missed the lexx chat now but i suppose there's always next time...

| aww, did you try the java portal on the right, the chat button? if you saw an @ in front of names, you were in a chat room, and we were all talking.

You don't need to d/l it, just hit the chat room button and it takes you to the chat room, we'll also have a log up later of the chat.

| do you mean the one in the list on the left? cause i couldnt see one on the right. if u meant the one on the left i tried it but that didnt work for some reason

| Yeah the one on the left, it's a java chat, are you using a windows PC? ANd if so it works best with an IE browser.

In a day or so we'll have the transcript up of the chat and you can read it there..so you won't feel left out and if you want you can experiment later with the chat portals and see if you can find your way in..Angel has a thread about it somewhere around here that maybe can help you..
