I am now the proud owner of LEXX Season 3 and 4 bought from Frys Electronics. I am not allowed to open it until July 28th (my birthday), however I can look at the outside of the box for now. I have the season 3 and 4 together in one box version. It has an evil picture of Stan, and a season 1 era picture of the LEXX on the front, it kind of looks like a bad quality insert for the dvd cover that they used, sort of like it was printed on a crappy dot matrix printer.

I was able to open it on my birthday (today!) There's no special features (in season 1 anyways) the dvd menu appears somewhat generic, however the actual film itself was transfered very well to dvd, and it looks much better than netflix.

On a side note, why does His Shadow think it's curious that Kai was flying an insect? Is it because insects are the wrong side for the Bruneng? In that case, wouldn't they (the writer/producer) have elaborated on that a bit more in the story? Just wondering what you think.

Happy Birthday guideX. Did you buy the older version that has Zev on the cover, or the newer re-release that has Xev on the cover?

It's the newest version from target,

http://www.target.com/p/lexx-season-one-4-discs/-/A-11688759

I also have season 2, and the season 3/4 combo pack, I'm hoping somewhere there's some special features, but so far there's only a chapter selection. However the overall quality is very good. I do not know if previous dvd versions looked this good, but this copy is very clean and crisp, even the audio seems better, but i'm comparing to netflix, which is obviously somewhat degraded by the time I see it.

Yes, it seems that the Brunnen G may have been the first to use bio-engineered insects, with which they were able to emerge victorious in the war; two millenia later, the Shadow -- being of the typical authoritarian mindset, and unlikely to see his enemy as worthy -- must have been surprised seeing an antique attack craft that had some similarity to his own ships.

I wish this was somehow more a part of the story. I get the hint that there was more than a few untied plot points. What about the guy who became his shadow in the first movie? It seems like we should know him. I wonder how much editing was done and how many changes were made to the original story.

Do you mean "Rockhound" who got taken over by the bug essence while climbing down into a mining exploratory well, right? Is it the prequel which still needs to be made?

(On the other hand, I recall how Robert Heinlein had a novella titled "The Sound of His Wings" plotted out in his (or perhaps John Campbell's) Future History timeline, but said he never had the heart to actually write the hows and wherefors of a religious dictatorship taking hold over the U.S.; too depressing, and all too believable.)

Lots of Lexx is laid in between the lines and that is what makes it so intellectually captivating as we strive to fill in the gaps for ourselves; I'm not sure if it's accurate to describe them as loose plot ends.

I suppose with the flip and languid manner Shadow-as-Rockhound told his crewmates how "I must have fallen asleep" moments after agitatedly announcing he was getting zapped by the bug essence, we may guess that the Shadow had formidable skills at disembling and manipulating humans with his speech and bearing -- if not even more direct means.

Maybe it all started with Rockhound's Traveling Revival Show. All of the Shadows went by their number -- how many were there total? At least tens of them.

Wasn't that original space rock that the bug hid out in for all those years the same that went on to become the "Cluster?"

Edit: and happy birthday!

Do they have Zev on the cover or Xev? The one with Zev should have all the original extras.

Be_You_ wrote: When I looked on a Echo Bridge site, all I found, informationwise, was a "sell sheet" with episode numbers and timings for each season, so it is entirely possible that these DVDs do not have all that extra stuff true Lexx fans would otherwise miss. If anyone finds out for sure, please post that information.

Also, would these possibly be editted in some way to "clean them up?" Interestingly, Season 1 episodes are listed as numbering eight of one-hour length each.
I have the echo bridge season 1 dvd set - the eps are all 90 minutes and from my research on season 1 they are uncut (Zev nudity in shower and brain removal scenes intact).

No extras though.

I seen season 2 at Homelands Grocery Store. I almost bought because it came with a copy of "The Last Starfighter". But, I already have season 2.
