It's something that I question and suspect we were supposed to question it too.

I mean, remember in the beginning of the very first Lexx movie when Stan is being awoken to what can easily be seen as a naked propaganda lecture?

Everybody seemed to be so sure that they were fortunate to be in the Light Universe where everything was assumed to be relatively good and right -- but the so-called Light Universewas where a bug took over the Human Race, turned everybody into bug food goo, right? And characters like Schlemi and Dr Kazan and Mantrid prospered (up to a point) in the so called Light Zone. Were those people really living in the Dark Zone? Hmmm... "Tales from the Dark Zone."...

I do not think there was a distinction, or at least, the light zone was no better if not a much worse place to be. Although it seems that they now have an orderly system, it doesn't appear to work too well. Look at the evil things going on on the cluster, people loosing organs and their lives for refusing to pay to the church, or being a bad spouse during an arranged marriage. I really think the light zone was more the evil place, and everyone knew it and hated it there, however there were some who bought into it, like the "manager" or whatever who was telling stan to report to punishment. And then there were people like Thoadin, who were opposing it.

It was more likely a propaganda title. Brainwashed people wouldn't have many reservations about invading a place with an ominous name like the dark zone (like how we use the term 'axis of evil'), which was probably the intention of his divine shadow once he managed to conquer the reform planets.

One universe is probably more evil than the other, but that is likely the result of the forces at work in either rather than being intrinsic.

The overall 'evil' nature of both (IMO) always came off as more of a critique of humanity by the writers anyways. When you boil it down, the only evil thing about either universe is evil people doing evil things. Its up to the good ones to mess them up (as Kai would often do) :P

For some reason the Light Zone never translated for me as Light as in 'good' but as 'rigidly ordered' Everything running according to a clearly laid out plan that appears good on the surface but underneath is as corrupt and rotten as the one leading it.

Hey, I'm up for that whether it be in the Dark Zone or the Light Universe!

Ditto what Blake and Abby said.

Of course, it's entirely possible that the vast majority of the Light Zone was every bit the anarchical free-for-all that the Dark Zone was, as I'd wager the Divine Order--while far reaching--only held sway over a fraction of the universe.

Did you noticed that the Light Zone was visually dark. And the Dark Zone was visually light.
As for as which place was the best? Both were horrid.
