Give out custom made 'gift certificates redeemable with you for services.  For example if you have a friend that has a baby, give her a gift certificate for a night of babysitting.  Or an elderly person could get a gift certificate to have you mow their lawn or something.

You can make the gift certificates from templates and customize them for each person offering to do something for them.  You are only out the cost of ink and paper.

Oh, yeah me and my sis did that once when we were younger. As a gift for mother's day I remember now since you suggested this. This is a good idea Abby thank you very much :)

OOh great idea. Especially if you are running short of time on finishing a project. I crochet a lot of items (can't disclose all of them b4 Christmas) :P But I can give you a great recipe for bath salts.
1/2 cup baking soda
1/2 cup sea salt
Soak in as hot a bath as is comfortable for at least 20 minutes.
Then sower in as cool a shower as is comfortable.
This leaves your skin nice and soft as well as releases toxins from your skin.  If you have sore muscles, add 1cut pf rubbing alcohol to the back. It really relaxes muscles and relieves soreness.

I never know what to get people, so I usually just go with homemade desserts like pies, tarts, and whatnot. I don't like cooking much, but I'm pretty good at making sweet things. :c030a:

I'm trying to crochet some small bags or purses for my nieces which they'll probably will not like.

I've also crochet various differenct coasters for a small donation for my sister school fair. I recommend crochet items as it's much quicker and easier then knitting and there are loads of free patterns on line and youtube tutorials.

I also make all my gift boxes and origami gift bags. Gosh you can even make gift bags out of envolopes, even used one.

If your interested I'll link you to a youtube tutorial on that.

Dragonflygurl,
wow that so cool gifts bags out of envolopes lol I have not seen one of those. Why you say they wouldn't like it? Don't put your gifts down you made it with love. If they did not like them maybe you can show them how to make one they would like. I agree crocheting is way easier lol I have made crocheted baby toys. Those toys helped me kinda learn to read patterns some.

CheshireKat,
No, lol I wish I was watching the foodnet work they showed a simple way to make them and that's the only one I have made(so far because it cheap and take little time to do) have not had time to try other yet. I did not use the balsamic in it because I never have it at hand. Also I'am the only one who likes, also not manysalads at hand so it be a waist. But I loved this recipe and they come out amazing. The people on the site gave them 4 stars.

Total Time: 3 hr 35 min.
Prep25 min.
Inactive3 hr 0 min.
Cook10 min.
Yield:36 truffles .
Level:Easy.

Ingredients
8 1/2 ounces dark chocolate, chopped (recommended: Valrhona)
1/4 cup cream
2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
1/2 cup cocoa powder
Directions
Melt the chocolate and cream in a double boiler over hot but not simmering water. Place melted chocolate in a small bowl. Stir in the balsamic vinegar. Cool the chocolate in the refrigerator for 1 hour. Remove from the refrigerator and let sit at room temperature for 2 hours, until firm but moldable.

Use a teaspoon to scoop out chocolate. Use your fingertips to shape into balls about the size of a cherry. Set the chocolate balls on a parchment-lined tray.

Place the cocoa powder in a small shallow dish. Place 6 truffles at a time in the cocoa powder and roll the truffles around to coat, and return the coated truffles to the baking sheet. Continue with the remaining truffles. Place the truffles in a serving dish or airtight package.
