His Divine Shadow has retired to Boca Raton, currently nursing a beer gut from all the pabst blue ribbon.  Rumor has it he has carpal tunnel from channel surfing too much, and he lives with a room mate named Morty who is tired of having to watch the mating ritual of the fruit fly on National Geographic.   You just try changing the channel on His Divine Shadow....
Damn and all this time I thought that guy was Jeb Bush!

Then there won't be any issues at all.  I wish you the best of luck with it!

Well, it took thousands of years for His Shadow to topple after everyone had believed all the Brunnen-G had been pwnt. :P Now we just need an obscure prophecy that will foretell the downfall of Alliance Atlantis, followed by a company with taste buying Lexx...

Actually CanWest now owns the rights to Lexx, they bought them from Alliance Atlantis some years ago and they haven't done anything with it either.

Yes, the property sold off by Alliance years ago also contained every other show on Salter Street (The Industry, etc) and all of Paul D's works in progress. So even now, Paul doesn't have the 'rights' to Lexx even though he wrote it, produced and directed it. The rights are currently languishing in a wastepaper basket someplace in Vancouver in the office of a 3rd level catalog developer (at least they DID re-release the dvds a while back) but absolutely no 'new' work is being done with the show.

Ever. Ever ever ever. Trust me. Many have attempted to find out what can be done but there is absolutely NO interest by the company in dredging up a rehash of a show that, even though WE loved it, was not very commercially successful the first time around. It never got high in the ratings, it wasn't marketed worth a shit, and the fanbase has dwindled down to less than 50 hard-core lunatics such as ourselves...half of which worldwide legally would qualify as candidates in any State-run mental institution, if not criminal incarceration.

We're fortunate that at least a couple of the cast members still want to claim it on their resume', and will happily discuss the show with fans when accosted in a public setting, or on a message board someplace. Other cast members just want to put the show behind them and aren't interested in reliving the past. So that's our dilemma.

Ask how many of the fans actually went out and bought the dvds the first time around. Not many. There was alot of illegal downloading going on at the time, (just ask some of the cast members) and the loss of income for even that small a production had it's impact.

We have highly creative fans, but we have to eventually face the reality of the situation. I have seen dozens of shows over the years that I would love to see be reborn, but hey, that's showbiz.

You can't have everything, where would you put it?

Indeed.

LEXX was the very definition of a "niche" programme, and the oddball qualities that attracted us to it also helped to marginalize it. I witnessed a lot of hate and indifference directed at the show by those who considered it "the worst show ever", people who were either unable or unwilling to try to "get" it. Its weird, warped sense of dark humor, its subsurface downbeat tone, and the highly-sexualized content appealed only to that segment of fandom that appreciates something that dares to be different, to defy convention and be unique in a sea of by-the-numbers genre films and shows.

Plus, as maya pointed out, the marketing was poor, and plus we saw Sci-Fi bungle the broadcasting of season 2 in ways worthy of FOX. Then we got the brilliant-but-short 3rd season, followed by the long-but-uneven 4th season. Heck, I think Xenia made it onto the cover of TV guide on the strength of her looks alone.

And let us not forget that Lexx as a series stood alone with very little merchandise, and no tie-ins, like novels, comics, or games. The show was pretty much it, and to this day that's all we really have.

So, feel free to talk it up to people who might enjoy it. Point out the fact that you can watch it on HULU, and send people in its direction. Perhaps we'll get a few more fans, some of which may end up posting here *lol* Just don't expect much of anything from those that hold the rights.

I just found the board. I recently bought all the seasons on DVD (re-released in canada with a fair price this time ;), though I have Season 4 from the original release.

I've enjoyed the show when it first aired, but I would not want a remake or spinoff from Lexx. The entire show was about Kai's story from the day of his death to the day of his destruction. There is really nothing left to tell.

It *is* one of very few great shows. It should not be ruined by attempted remakes, bad spinoffs (see X-Files spinoff, The Lone Gunmen) or otherwise.

RIP Lexx. RIP

I did have the series 1 to 3 on video and then I got them fortunately all on dvd.

Over here in the UK they used to show them really late at night. Sometimes I would have to stay up until just past 12 or 1am in the morning to see it. Back then my video recorder decided to give up the ghost of recording. I could play stuff on it but not time it to record anything, so I just stayed up as it well worth it.

I did get two people interested in it but I don't think they were as mad on it as I were. I still have my very nice Kai poster and the two sets of Lexx post cards. And some kind sole made me a lexx mousemat.

I guess you've never met him. :c030a::P:D

Is that to suggest you don't quite like him and therefor would change him or that bloodsucker doesn't know him and therefor shouldn't say such things?
