granted.  but there's a hell of a lot of bad acting and poor grasp of comic timing, too.  this is the stuff I'd 'fix', in my dream life.  the dream life in which henry cavill is kai, and in which he brings the lexx to my house and shows me his rods.

Note:"bad acting and poor grasp of comic timing "were done intentionally...

Lexx was parody on shows from the fifties and sixties, where actors didn`t know how to act...

(like first "Flash Gordon" or "Angry red planet"...:)

PS

I wouldn`t change Michael for the world..[

I agree the "campiness" was intended.  Bad acting? I don't know if I agree with that, they came across as exactly what they were supposed to be a trio of screw-ups thrown together by twist of fate.

I think the show would have died a quick death if the characters came across as too "polished"  Much of the charm would have been lost.

I agree, and there was campiness to the hilt, dark humour, at times even just plain silliness,  and even anti sci fi, the lexx bible contains no rubber-faced aliens.

Well I went to IMDB to check out this Henry Cavill to see what all the fuss was about, and quite frankly, he doesn't blow my skirt up. He's ok, but I wouldn't say he was 'gorgeous', and he certainly wouldn't be able to hold a candle to Michael in his early years on Lexx. I'm sure he's a passable actor, but I'll stick with the original. If you doubt my opinion, feel free to check out "I Worship His Shadow" and see how magnificent Michael was during those scenes. He portrayed a ton more emotion than he did during the subsequent seasons after the initial movies.

Plus, his stunning profile was legenday.

I don't see any "weirdness" either unless maybe it's because he's not an "A" lister tabloid publicity hound.

Hehehehehehe...Well the whole Golf thing could be called weird.  My nephew is weird like that he's been busted playing where there are no windmills too! Poor thing we've been trying to cure him of that little flaw for years.  It's so bad that he graduated Saturday, went out to dinner with all of us to celebrate and then straight to the golf course.

Anyone willing to hit a little white ball a mile, then walk or ride around looking for it in weeds only to hit it again and repeat the process just to get it in a tiny little hole is weird.

Let us just say.....*drum roll please*....that Michael has NO similarity to Kai, either in personality or physical presence when he's not on camera, so don't even look for that.  The guy is just a superb actor.

His personality in person could be described as 'quirky'..he's been known to be utterly charming when 'on', for example like a convention, but fiercely vocal when it comes to politics and/or pet projects or interests. He has described himself as being sullen, opinionated and critical. But he's also witty, somewhat goofy and knows just how to 'work a room' where there are people he wants to impress. He's also very intelligent and artistic, and has an accomplished musical background, in spite of being a math wiz. But he doesn't think much of fandoms, and has convinced himself that people that follow shows devotedly and obsessively (sound familiar?) are somewhat deluded and lacking a real life.

Hey, Shatner said it first, folks.

Hence the reluctance to get more involved with conventions, etc.
