Hello Everyone,

I got bit by the Lexx bug!  Because I have been needing my Lexx fix!   I remember watching back when it aired on SciFi.   It was one of those programs I was happy to see on tv, but did not care if I missed an episode.  The last one I ever saw on tv was where they were on the planet fire and Stan was forced to use that pump machine or his head would be decapitated.   About one month ago it came back in my head and I wondered what ever happen in that episode or the show for that matter!  So, I finally bought the set and have been watching all the episodes.  Sadden, I am on season four and just finished watching “The Game” last night; Which is hilarious!   However, my question is…. Has anyone heard any updates as to talks of reviving the show or creating a spin-off?   There is no other show like Lexx on the planet!  I hate to see the last episode as I will deeply miss Lexx. Knowing it may never continue after season four.

Nope. Welcome aboard, we'll just have to enjoy it on Hulu or dvd.

Although I sometimes wish they would do something else it just wouldn't be the same.  If you just watched the game I'll assume that you haven't finished the series yet and I won't spoil it for you.  But in the end you'll understand why I say it just would not be the same.

LEXX Is one of the few TV shows that was lucky enough to go out on it's own terms before it wore out it's welcome.

Correct, I have not made it to the end yet.  In a odd way, I kinda don't want to. However, I must move foward.  I am going to watch Haley's Comet tonight.  On a good side, I hear Farscape is almost like Lexx.   So, maybe I start that series next?  It's just odd to me some people found the show too strange?!  It's hilarious to watch!  Like the 791 after Stan, or doctor in the tunnels on planet fire!  Even asked some of my old high school friends if they remember watching it.  All I get is a puzzled look and them asking "what is a Lexx?".

Maybe you are right in that it went off air before we all got sick of it.  Although, I don't think I could ever get sick of 790!

Well at least there is this forum with people that know what I am talking about!

Well, I just saw the final "Yo way yo". Honestly, it seemed kinda rushed. However, it really is left open to go on. They have everyone back with a baby Lexx ship. Plus, I could see 790 somehow discover Kai floating around dead in space and use the proto blood to bring him back. They could keep this show going for sure.

On another note have you guys seen "Just Buried" or the remake of Sybil? Both have Brian Downey and just buried also has Nigel Bennett. It was cool seeing Brian and Nigel playing in another film together.

Well Paul and the cast all felt it wrapped up nicely and don't feel the need to continue or spin-off the show, and personally I'm inclined to agree with them. Paul has no interest in reviving the show and has moved on, as has the cast. I think we were extremely lucky to have caught lightning in a bottle the first time around.

Remakes very rarely live up to expectations, and even though there are still those deluded enough to think they have the 'power' or authority to bring it back, the sad truth is, they're wrong. Absolutely NO ONE is going to re-invent or resurrect this show if it's not Paul Donovan, in spite of what might be written out there. We should just appreciate it for the masterpiece that it was and not want to produce a watered-down version of the original material.

Prince restored Kai to life so when he died, he died.  So much of Lexx depended on Kai's back story that without him it would not be LEXX.  And I just can't see the resurrection thing working here.  It would be like discovering Bobby Ewing took a multiple seasons long shower.

It ended well anything else at this point would just cheapen the show in my opinion.

I don't know ... I can picture a slick remake, but with more emphasis on the satire. I see henry cavill as kai (tasty!), abby cornish as xev, and charlie sheen as stanley. yeah, nice.

With Charlie Sheen as Stanley, you'd have nothing but a drunken letch on your hands and no storyline.

funny thing is, I wrote that before I heard of the latest exploits of Mr Sheen.

still, I'm happy with my mental image of henry cavill as kai.  dunno about a wig on him, though. might have to photoshop that ... :c030a:

I don't know. Michael really gave a clearly defined sense of who Kai was over the course of the show, in a sense he "owns" that character.  Anyone else trying to play Kai would put a different spin on the character and it wouldn't be Kai anymore it would be someone else pretending to be Kai.  Kind of like the new Nightmare on Elm Street.  Sorry there's only one actor that can play Freddie Kruger and that's Robert Englund, anyone else playing that role and it's just not Freddie anymore, it's someone pretending to be Freddie if that makes sense.

I got your back on that one and completely agree. He really made it his role, and anyone else even attempting to play it would be a poor comparison, a shadow of the true genius behind it.

When you think about it, anyone else would start with the Kai has human urges in an attempt to "showcase" their talent.  It was really brilliant that he chose to go the "Dead is Dead" route instead of the "Dead is pitiful" or "Dead wants to be alive" route.

Kai is unique among "dead" characters.  He doesn't want sympathy for being dead nor does he try to "fit in" with the living.  He is what he is, dead.  Take it or leave it. And if you don't like it, he'd probably say:kissmyass:

mcmanus gave great deadpan, to be sure.  just not convinced no one else can.  about 90% of hollywood cattle do it without meaning to anyway, and henry ain't even hollywood.  he's uk, and fucking beautiful :P.  tall, masculine, and very good at poker face.

either way, it's all in the name of lexxsport.  nothing to do now but watch it over and over again and dream dreams of new and 'improved' lexiness

if I was to take the idea seriously, I'd say definitely do a more satirical version.  the satire was always a bit underdone, imho. the ideas were there, but clumsily transcribed.

I kind of liked the understated humor.  It made you think.  Most people who don't get LEXX tend to need things spelled out for them.  LEXX was bit more "intellectual"
