Remember, Kai DID die on Water, and re-awoke on Gametown, but his original soul had been hovering around since he'd been an Undead Assassin.

All of the "dopplegangers" on Earth were the reincarnated souls from Fire and Water, after they were destroyed. Remember that Kai's soul was last seen on Water...Lyekka's soul had been on Water (Garden ), but she was reincarnated as the Porn star. Dr. Rainbow (Lex G) had been on Fire and was reincarnated as Huff, Fifi (Jeff Pustil)was on Fire, he was reincarnated as Farley,
Bunny (Patty Z) was reincarnated again as Bunny, and Priest (Rolf Kanies), was again reincarnated as Pres Priest.
Kai's soul had been so tormented by his 2000 years as an assassin for the Divine Order, that it left him quite unstable. Anyone having endured that kind of existence would be, quite understandably, insane. The fact that he wasn't curled up into a ball whimpering in the corner was a testament to his inner strength, but he would never have been 'normal', the Karmic Wheel notwithstanding...

mayaXXX, I understand that interpretation, and that despite the mysterious variety of ways people came back -- either with similar or the exact same names and identities, or distinctly different ones -- I agree that most of the doppelgangers on Blue Planet are recycled souls from Fire or Water: Prince, Priest, Bunny, Gigerota, and most of the others.

But I am questioning the identities of "live Kai" and Lyekka -- though I have to admit I do like your interpretation of Kai's tormented soul manifesting itself in the self-torturing artist entity.

Again, what makes me suspicious is Prince's involvement. I suppose he might have used his power as ATF chief and perhaps some of his vestigal supernatural power to simply dig up the applicable doppelgangers to attract Xev and Stan to stay on the little blue planet, but since -- as Bilbo pointed out in his review of Fluff Daddy -- Prince did point out that not all the souls from Fire and Water went to Earth, there would have been no guarantee that the two individuals most likely to attract Xev and Stan to stay would be available. Might Prince not have simply sought out the more pedestrian variety of "doppelgangers?" His position at ATF would have allowed him to search through a vast database of faces and figures.

And it was just a bit suspicious the way he so ostentatiously advertised to Xev the possiblity that it would be the *real* Kai that she might meet (knowing that he had set her up mere inches away from the poster depicting "live Kai's" act.)

And Lyekka -- was she ever really on Water or was that a plant that mimicked the plant Lyekka of Stan's dreams just as that plant mimicked the Lyekka of Stan's youth? How could Prince have known the real Lyekka of Stan's youth whose character so neatly matched the porn star? (I suppose that might be explained by him being supernatural.)

It is interesting, is it not, that the ATF produced the Kai one-man show and that Huffington entertainment -- run by a former "politician" -- created the videos that Prince was distributing to Bunny?

In your last comment you mention that Kai actually died on Water? What episode?

He "died" on water when he sank like a stone to the center of the planet while Stan drowned near the surface.  It was when he saw the image of his living self floating in limbo just before he dissociated into sparkles and "woke up" on a bed in Gametown.  I can't remember the exact episode name.

Later, when Xev found him, she asked something like "But if you died and came back, are you....alive?" to which he responded with a very disappointing "No".

I'm pretty sure this is what Maya was talking about.

Dead Kai for the win, as dead Kai is far wiser, and you can't kill him, because he's already dead. However live Kai's parts are all working, so I don't know..

I'm taking the view of ONE at a gathering of girls at a coffee shop. Dead Kai vs. Live Kai?
Let us analyze.

Live Kai in Brigadoom, pretty in pink. Great guy, brave, cause driven, focused, and he sings well. Can only live in a theater. This Kai we all hoped was still inside Dead Kai somewhere. Did you ever wonder what would have happened if he stayed?

Live Kai, The Actor Wimpy, wimpy, crybaby. Cute as all-get-out tho. But he is needy and selfcentered. If Xev didn't eat him, she would have tired of him in no time. Xev already had her doubts when she asked Dead Kai,"What did you think of his acting?".

Prince as Kai. You would be blue on blue. A moment of bliss is all you would get (if that). Prince would tire of the game and in Hell you would be.
A more appropriate name for fire.

Dead Kai, Here is every womans dream tall, dark, handsome. He's a man of few words and easy to please. Allways faithful and loyal. He will protect you and keep you. And as for intimacy. Well, just look at Bunny she was enjoying herself, wasn't she ?

The creators of the film "LEXX" created the universe (or rather, two universes) with its rules. They presented their understanding of human life after death.
The first died Kai. His soul left his body. And the body was turned into a robot killer. When Kai had found his memory (and memory of many other people and creatures) in his achievement he was relying on his back memory and their moral principles and moral principles of their friends. But the soul to him had not returned. Kai was a living corpse without soul.
Then Xev died. Even in the first season. She was recreated Lyekka. In fact cloned from what was left of it. She returned to her soul? I think, Yes. Lyekka possess amazing abilities. Evil flower, capable of how to destroy, and create life.
Then he died Stan. And was brought back to life after the destruction of the planet of the Fire. His soul just returned to his frozen body.
Kai on a water planet is not dead. This is my opinion. The dead could not die. He fell to the light in the center of the planet. Disappeared into the «light». Then it brings it to the surface. But why the «lights» had not restored his soul as other people of the planet of Water.
Why?
He remained such as was. Dead. And his soul after the destruction of the planet's Water revived in Kai-Actor. Xev freed the soul of Kai from its new incarnation.
Then the Prince returned Kai his soul. Kai was alive and is dead.
The Prince calls himself god. Says that he supports the balance. After each death the Prince becomes stronger and more powerful.
Who is he really?
And why accepted the destruction of the planet Earth, as their liberation. Is it not because the souls of the people of the planet Earth returned to the original source, from which when it came out. In the Dreams Land? More can they had nowhere to go?

Need fresh blood? There you get bored already? All one and the same?
I still think that is so remarkable in the TV series "LEXX" that I am not too lazy to register on the website? I think that is a show about us with you. About us turned inside out the world. Only in the TV series all brought to the point of absurdity.
With regard to the stated topic: "Which would you choose? The dead assassin or the living, breathing Kai?" - I would have chosen Kai free. Kai, who departed from this world in a Zone of Dreams.
