Jet Li and Jason Statham kicked ass, but Stallone's plastic surgery disasters distracted me...

As for Skyfall...BEST BOND in over 20 years...

Bond...JAMES Bond....

:ani-light1:

I just rented Exendables 2, some campy action, Jason kicked ass, and Stallone looked a bit too much like Priscilla Presley for my tastes.

Hobbit!

Well, it IS thin. Sort of stretched. Like butter scraped over too much bread... Could've been 20 or 30 mins shorter and wouldn't have suffered for it.
But I loved it.
There is a part of my brain that has "cram and lembas and miruvor" written all over it in tengwar script which started pumping all sorts of happy hormones into my system the moment the familiar view of Hobbiton popped up. And it just hasn't stopped since then.
Gosh, I'm glad I saw this.
Hope the world doesn't end this year, because I am *really* looking forward to Smaug, I'm in love with Thranduil already - and I am also very very curious about Beorn.

It's good to be a geek.

Still haven't had a chance to catch The Hobbit.  I'm curious to see how much extra-textual material makes it in, since they discussed picking and choosing a few "off-page" incidents to focus on for bridging purposes, and because the book proper hardly warrants three 2 1/2-3 hour flicks.

There is a lot stuff from LotR appendices and some stuff from PJ's head.
There are scenes with White Council, some scenes from Dol Guldur, quite a lot of Radagast... PJ clearly aims to connect The Hobbit to LotR, so the overall feel, while definitely more light-hearted than that of the LotR trilogy, is considerably darker than the tone of the book.
Some scenes follow the book almost 1:1 (especially in the first third of the film), but there are also some fairly significant changes.

As a standalone film it can't compete with any of the LotR trilogy installments... But since (like I wrote) I have a chunk of lembas for brain, I enjoyed the hell out of it.

(BTW, I saw both 2D and 3D - and I recommend 3D. The CGI looks *much* better.)

Maya went to the theatre to see it in 3D, but they fucked up the audio and video, so she had to get her money back for the ticket, hopefully she can catch it next week.

Wasn't a bad movie, I saw it in the theater, and again on cable.

yeah so I watched 'Skyfall' and hated it..yes I know it's supposed to be a bit farfetched and yes I love the technology aspects of it but I simply found this one to be 'cartoony' to my taste..first of all the villan, Silva was way overacted..was he gay? or was he deciding midway through the role while he was eating his lunch..I think I'll make him feminite to give it a twist? his salami sandwich was more twisted..sorry Javier you took the check and ran! as for the girl, Severine, Bond didn't bond with her..not even while they fucked..when she died he didn't even bat an eye...poor expensive ho...*sob* I woulda shot her just to end her suffering..OF THIS MOVIE! gads..the only thin that saved this tired franchise was Dame Judi Dench as 'M' loved her..oh and kudo's to the kid who now plays 'Q'..spots indeed! LOL..eh..wait for it to play on TBS..

I agree with you Ketana about Javier's character and I should have waited for it to come on TBS instead of paying for pay per view. After the train scene in the beginning the movie just went down hill from there.
