Angel wrote:I would have to say technically the Lexx 10 year reunion was last year as they started filming in 1996.  They may not have aired until 1997, but many people don't look at that as the year it was made, just the year it started airing, so my belief is that the 10 year reunion has passed and it is now in it's 11th year.  Plus it was advertised last year at TD con as the 10 year reunion, so that's already been done, and you can't do the same thing twice.
Filming actually began in 1995, the first movie was completed in that very year too - including all special effects (expect the ones of "Version 2", which got done in 1996). You can look up the ending credits, it says 1995. As stuff made for TV use the copyright at the end of the credits so that you know when it aired (as for normal series filmed and completed in 2006, they show (c) 2007 if they won't get shown until 2007 on TV - you can look up any ending credits of a series there) it leaves the impression, that "I worship His Shadow" aired for the first time in (late) 1995 - in Canada.  The first version of IWHS also got shown first in January 1996 on Showtime, in the USA - as stated by Paul Donovan in early 1996. The other three movies have (c) 1996 at the ending, so they most probably been shown in 1996 for the first time (as stated in several sources for those movies, too - including Jeffrey Hirschfield who said they aired in fall 1996) along with the second version of the first movie (the first version is hard to find) due to the big success of the first movie.
Paul Donovan later stated (for the UK VHS Version which later found it's place on the Canadian and US DVDs iirc), that the first version never got aired (for the UK it was right AFAIK) so that 1996 would be the "official birthdate" ("for the UK"), though 1995 would be correct "for Canada", if my sources are correct.
That basicly means, if I'm right (and my sources of course), that LEXX (which was only 1 movie then and not aired under the title "LEXX" AFAIK) got 10 year old almost 2 years ago (late 2005) in Canada, his place of birth.
But... TD was in the 10th year timeline, as it was June or July 2006 (which was summer and LEXX got 11 in fall, if my speculations are right there). As you don't age at the start of a year (I almost do though), you age in a specific season in a specific month on a specific date ;)

"Circumstantial evidence": Ending credits of IWHS saying 1995. No "Behind the scenes" from the first movie in the "Extra Stuff" segments, but behind the scenes from all other three movies. Two versions of the first movie (second version aired along with the other 3 movies in late 1996). No "big" stars in the first movie, but very big stars in all other 3 movies. Jeffrey Hirschfield stating in an LEXXfans chat interview it was fall 1996 they first aired. Paul Donovan saying it was January 1996 it first aired (in the US). Different titles for the first LEXX movie(s), which could get false interpretations on when the movie(s) first aired.

btw: imdb.com is sometimes no reliable source, as many false informations get through (the staff doesn't know everything). And false informations get spreaded easily through the web itself, I might provide you with false information too in this case. ;)

PS: Hello, I'm back ;)

Hello Huzim.   In talking to the Brian and BK last year, they had looked at it as the 10th year, so that's how it got promoted for the TD con in 2006.

As I said in my post, and I wanna quote that part: [...]TD was in the 10th year timeline, as it was June or July 2006 (which was summer and LEXX got 11 in fall[...]
EDIT: I just wanted to make it clear that not everything ages/starts at the beginning of a year and ends at the end of a year. Like the business year always ends/begins in middle of march iirc.
EDIT2: I'm sorry, I got carried away in the first edit. I wanted to say that with that information we got, LEXX could have became 10 in 2005, 2006 or 2007 as it is not 100% clear when LEXX actually aired for the very very first time. And this "lack" of information can be handled in different countries and/or from different people differently. And some people seem to be ignoring this: there is not only your truth out there. A "ten year reunion/whatever since filming" (as it was promoted at TD) and a "ten year reunion/whatever since first airing" (as it seems to be promoted here) are two different things, very similiar but not the very same. Compare it to "The Web"/"The Net" episodes if you like - 2 different angles/point of views.

Everything I mentioned in my original post are just speculations based upon quotes by Paul Donovan, Jeffrey Hirschfield, the knowledge I got in the last months and other sources. I do not say that this is the truth, but it might be one.

And again... I write too much...

Hi all. The article I mentioned a few months ago is complete, and scheduled to appear next week. When it does, I'll post a link.

To all those who took my questions and shared their idea: thank you. The article wouldn't have been the same without your contributions, and hopefully, you'll find the results worthy of the show we all know and love.

Regards,

Nader

okay I'll behave, at least for a little while..wasn't bad but in all honesty it felt like a rehash of past written articles..I was looking forward to reading what the cast and beans thought of after ten years and their look back on the history and impact Lexx has in the Scifi world..*shrugs* not bad..not bad..

Agreed!!   Allot I had forgotten about, I used to watch the show on tape after work (2nd shifter), after my obligatory "couple beers", My wife got tired of it sometimes, and made fun of it and I _had_ to explain the satire!!  So I missed parts,  Guess that's why I'm hunting down the DVD's so I can actually _Watch_ them!!  After Showtime, I didn't realize SciFi showed them out of order, Maybe that's why it lost some continuity.  Anyway,  Good Article!  Thanx.         P.S. almost forgot "Tripping the Rift"; Laughed my a## off.

It was an interesting article.  I would have liked to have seen more of your own thoughts as the writer of the article within its contents.

I enjoyed your article & emailed the link to someone at work, who was asking about Lexx.

She emailed me back to say that she & her husband watched IWHS at the weekend & were amazed at how intelligent, dark & witty it is - they are totally hooked & buying them all!
