Boy all I can say is WOW. WOW WOW WOW. In spite of some rather negative incidents involving the League Of Psychopathic Losers, the Lexxverse fans (among others) had a FANTASTIC time !

DAY ONE: Thursday: Got into Orlando relatively trouble-free. Wish I could have said that about everyone. Poor Ketana had to sit at the terminal while they cancelled her plane, and then put her on The Standbye List From Hell. Hours later, they admitted she might not get out the next day either, and suggested she 'sleep' at the airport....Ummmmmmmmm.....NO.

Ketana lives 20 mins from the airport so used her smarts and went home, unfortunately making her trip impossible. Damn Jet Blue.

Jet Blue also claimed (Aeonflux), same story, cancelled the flight then put her on standbye. She finally gave up. Dreams of Kai  also suffered under the icy grip of winter. Let's say a prayer for our fallen soldiers who were lost in the line of duty. Fear not, we have GOODIES for you that you CAN'T imagine.

Made it to the Doubletree Hotel, hit the bar right off and was joined by several other Lexxians, like Peridot Eyes, (who turned out to be the sleeper hit of the convention) and some other fans from around the country. Many drinks and some food later, we stumbled back to our rooms and made ready for the Con the next day.

Friday: Took Xenia, BK , her baby and mom to the Con, faulty directions resulted in the scenic tour of the convention hall, but we made it with time to spare. Xenia was truly a good sport:

Ran back to the hotel and grabbed the girls, eager to start our experience of Megacon, one of the BIGGEST conventions in the US. I saw costumes that only someone's twisted imagination could invent. Anime was apparently the theme of the day, Inuyasha clones, Cowboy Bebop costumes, you name it.

AND we were fotunate enough to right ACROSS from the FARSCAPE TABLE ! WHOA !

Needless to say, alot of hobnobbing was done there and many drinks shared back at the hotel later....SCORPIUS !!(such a sweet guy, offered to buy me another drink at the next con. )

Xenia and Brian were on time, lovely to see all of them, and Xenia outdid herself on her TONS of pics that she brought, No one can say that this woman doesn't have any business sense. She had copies of her Playboy cover, the FHM cover, Lexx postcards, TONS of Lexx shots that were just remarkable and in fact, was so overloaded with goodies that when Michael finally showed up, his jaw dropped at the plethora of signage Missy Xenia had. Several times he would attempt to slide a card or pic off the table to 'appropriate' it for himself, but Xenia always caught him...:)

Michael didnt' do any signing the first day, he explained to me that this was a new thing for him and he had no idea what to expect. Xenia and Brian had their acts together. Brian brought out DVDS of some BLOOPERS and dailies he'd previously had offered on tape. No one can match Downey's sales pitches, the man would have been a millionaire as a car salesman, hehe

Michael roamed around a bit, sat and talked with fans and staff, and then came back to the hotel to hit.....

of course......the bar.

We had planned a Lexx cast party for 8-11 pm in a conference room, we had a LOVELY glow-in-the-dark Lexx banner, (thanks Frey) and here's where it gets interesting...:)

Our room rules stipulated NO outside food or drink BUT being the enterprising fans we were, one of our most dedicated soldiers offered up her wheelchair for the cause. Peridot Eyes (from Fla) had made a liquor run and snuck in the room, with literally gallons of alcohol covered with her coat. When the chair came into the room, and the contents revealed, BD was heard to say.."I'm so doomed"...

Michael discovered the joys of discussing the Iraqi situation with a vet of the war, and political ideas flew back and forth.

Attendees to the party were: Catcharm, Angel,Cheshire, Peridot Eyes (YOU GO GIRL)Straight Arrow, Veyron (hero of the convention for many of us ladies) BK, Mothbreeder and Dishroom Princess, Me, :), Flamegrape, Saffron the Pixie and friend,  and a few folks who's names I didnt' catch.

The party was officially dubbed, "The Wheelchair of Death" party, and much fun was had by all.

When it was time to vacate the room (llpm) we (naturally) gravitated to the bar, where I watched Michael and Brian interact with the fans, to the point of complete unconciousness for all parties...Many theories of philosphy, religion, driving, ( yes driving) fashion....ahem...and all around good times were had by all. I was instructed to record a 'political diatribe', to be shown AFTER the certain cast member left the country, simply because he didn't want to end up on the "No FLy" list and become a candidate for the Body Cavity Search Club.

After reviewing the tape at a later date, it was decided it was too inflammatory to release, hehehhe..Oy. *snort*

After being tossed out of the bar at 2am, the inhabitants were ordered (yes ordered) to attend an after-after-after party in Brian's room, and I remember one cast member feeling his way along the walls towards the elevator in the wrong tower for his room...hope he didn't have to sleep on the patio..

The Wheelchair of Death made an appearance, (this is a pretty neat trick, I must keep this in mind for future party plans)and the leftover gallons of booze were utilized in a most efficient fashion.

After being treated to live versions of Eric Clapton's 'Tribute to George Harrison" we listened to Brian explain a bit about the play he's writing. Not for the faint of heart, many were moving aside to avoid the expected lightning bolts. ::)

Staggering back to the room at 4am (yes I did drink a bit) Kathy and I dropped into a coma. At 9am I ran Xenia and her Mom and baby and BK to the convention and then came back for the girls since they didnt' want to go in too early.

Saturday:

THIS time Michael came prepared!

He had several copies of the Brigadoom music score posters, the ATF play poster and tons of nice LEGAL trading cards. There was some discussion of another Lexx booth making bootleg homemade cards and a remark about the 'lovely cottage industry' being implemented at this other booth drew some attention.

Now in spite of what you might think of me, I'm usually pretty forgiving if it doesn't involve vicious or nasty activities or words, but I have to say, this one particular incident took the cake. Apparently the other Lexx booth was making up homemade Lexx shirts, selling them and then telling the buyers that the Lexx cast would sign them for free. !! So outrageous. NO SUCH agreement existed. Ask Xenia who was VERY upset that this happened. It's really sad when someone has to try and make money off the cast without giving them a cut of the profit or at least asking first. Geez, guys. wow.

(shudders) ANYWAY: On to the signing table events. I filmed several fans getting their items signed, included Cheshire bringing the KAI WIG that she'd purchased and Michael played with it, oohed and ahhed over the fact that it was still in once piece...It consisted of 2 buns, one with wire for a base (Michael commented he still had grooves in his head from wearing that thing) another bun to fit on top, the long black wig that gets braided and a clip-on lock of black curls from 'Gondola'..MINE !!!

Michael pops the hairpieces on his head and in general makes goofy faces, laughter was heard from many fans standing in line. I recorded it for posterity, hehe.(and blackmail purposes) :)

The table had many folks 3-4 deep vying for a position for signing the pics, and since I had about 12 of my own for numerous international fans, I offered to let one person go ahead of me, but was told, 'No that's fine." later I hear they posted on the 'net that I 'cut in front of them' and was 'rude' etc..pure hogwash. One lady behind this certain person saw the new Michael head shots and begged to find one to purchase. Since Michael didn't bring that particular one, I gave her an extra one to get signed.

Michael was amused that the colorized version made him look so different..and remarked that technology was a wonderful thing and why couldn't they do that to living flesh as well, heh.

and NO in spite of what others are saying, I wasn't 'interviewing' Michael at the table, I was asked to chronicle the events for the websites. ( I don't know why people say things that they have NO clue about, like how they'd know if I had 'permission' or not...good lord.

I did indeed have permission from all parties involved..So there. *nyah* ;)

Actually I had a scheduled interview planned for Sunday, which did INDEED go off without a hitch, and THIS ONE will actually MAKE IT to the internet for the fans to see, and not be rat-holed in someone's dusty attic to personally view and gloat that they have something 'special'..

Well I got the whole interview I had planned for Timeless that Angel did, and didn't get the opportunity to finish because of 1. Bad time management by the camera operator and 2. Not knowing anything about the equipment until Vancouver..Geez, get a clue, try to be more organized next time.

On to the Lexx panel. The room was packed, we had a full house, tons of folks there to see the guys and girl strut their stuff. Veyron and I filmed it, (with permission of course) and got tremendously great footage.

The cast was funny, and charming and a huge success.

Saturday night: We girls went out and stuffed ourselves at a lovely Italian restaurant, and even tho we had to wait for a year, a well-placed advance tip to our server made things speedy and efficient. Needless to say she got a BIG tip !

I've never had such delicious crab cakes in my life...Oy.

Back to (yes the bar)..Members of the Farscape crew, (Virginia Hey, Gigi Edgely, David Franklin, and my personal fave, Wayne Pygram, (SCORPIO !) I think I've fallen madly in love with that guy, he was SO nice and friendly and we shared a quick drink at the bar while waiting for my partners in crime to appear.

Michael went out with some of the Farscape crew (wink) and Brian once again invited us to after party at his suite. I'd tell you more but I can't really remember anything after the trapeze artists left. ::)

No sleep that night, in fact, no sleep except for 2 hours or so on the first night. I managed to hang in there tho and maintain a more or less dignified appearance (as much as one can while filming debauchery in it's finest form. J/K

Sunday: Beleive it or not, after a verrrrrrrrrrrrry long night, Michael was the first to appear at the fan table...Brian was MIA for several hours. Calls to his room went unanswered. Later he popped in accompanied by a stern but amused look by Michael while Brian set up but Brian wasn't talking...and just got down to business. hehe.

Xenia probably made out like a bandit...she had more product out there to sell than anyone. Michael talked a bit about how he should have been more prepared but didn't really know what to expect, so he was given a few pointers by Convention regulars on what to bring, wear, etc..

Peridot Eyes had brought the Kai doll prop from FLuffdaddy and Michael viewed it with distrust, then proceeded to pose it in lewd positions...ahem..and had apparently forgotten the night before that he had asked her to bring it...;)

Around 1:30pm, Veyron and I were invited by Michael to set up the interview on the outside loading dock, (can you say windy, cold and noisy?) but the options were very limited for a nice sit-down interview that didn't include bar noise, music or fans shreiking at the Anime characters walking around.

We got some fantastic video, Michael blocked the shots himself and showed us how the light would work at different places and all was well. We filmed it with both a Digital and Hi-Def camera (one that actually WORKS) and discussed many great topics. NO LEXX QUESTIONS.The interview lasted about 20-25 minutes, I think, I was off -camera asking the questions and Greg was filming.

The answers were informative, witty, and heart-felt.

Now I'm sure all of you can appreciate the man's personality on film or television, but I have to tell you, there's absolutely nothing like being in his presence and experiencing his incredible charisma. He's one of the most charming, intelligent, funny, sweet, and wicked people on the planet. He has a little mischievious side that slips out unguarded while he's let his defenses down. He remarked that he was cynical by nature and thought that most people only did something because the got something out of it. Brian and he talked at length about the hard work the fans did for the appearance, going above and beyond the call of duty to make sure they had a comfortable experience and Brian remarked that that this was the FIRST time he'd ever seen Michael so open and willing to interact with the fans. Maybe it was becauses the fans weren't droolers or screaming groupies and he talked to them as he would have his peers..

Now for the fun part..boy I hate to throw a negative vibe in there but I've been given permission to write about it.

Someone called me and told me that pictures of myself, Angel and Cheshire were up on someone's blog website from the Convention. This person had a booth there, (coincidentally selling unauthorized versions of Lexx memoribilia). Needless to say I was certainly less than thrilled especially because the person knew EXACTLY who we were and put them up. I went to the booth to ask them to take down the pics, and was given one excuse after another and major attidude about it. "How can we takes pics of the cast when you're always over there?"

Well that certainly wasn't the case, I was only at that part of the table on one day in that picture. Another passive aggressive repsonse. I did try to ask nicely but the attitude did get to me and many heated words were exchanged and I made a statement that if the pics didn't come down, I'd contact the webhosting company and have the site taken down for copyright infringement. I dont' have any problem with anyone taking tons of pics of the cast, after all, that's what they're there for, but MY pics are NOT public domain folks and any attempt to embarrass or try and humiliate me in any way will be met with the proper legal response.

I was then informed by the person there that it was MY fault that the cast members thought she was crazy. I responded that they didnt need MY help in coming to that conclusion and if they had ANY questions about it, to ask Brian himself. I can't fathom how someone would think I"d have that kind of 'power' over a cast member and the statment that I wanted to 'own Michael McManus' was met with derision

After returning to the booth, an HOUR later, I was stopped by 2 security guards and a Orlando State trooper and they asked me about the incident and relayed that the person making the complaint said I was making 'terroristic threats'.(is calling Xanga a terroristic threat? Oh well)and that I had been 'harrassing them 'for 6 months. What a crock. I dare anyone to show me that I"ve made any statements about these folks on any website in weeks and weeks, in spite of the fact that they don't stop their own harrassment of us. I just dont' have the time any more. I have tons of stuff to do the MM.com site and I really could care less what these miscreants say.

Needless to say, after explaining the situation and having the cast members themselves sticking up for me and telling them to go ask the convention organizers about these folks, their immediate reply was 'Well we thought they were kind of off anyway but hey, we gotta do our job'.

We then went to visit Xenia and they got their pic taken with her and us and I got their email addies to send them copies of the pics...heheh

Here's a shot of Sonny, the security guard and Xenia, can you beleive that he's 70?? DA-YAMM BOY, YOU FOIN !

And here's a shot of the security guards, the Miami cop and me...so much for kicking me out, eh Miss J? LOLOL

They asked us to avoid them and said they'd tell them the cast didn't want them at their table, which of course was met with resistance...Oh well.

Of course, Beth backed me up, having run into problems with them herself..*wink*

This is the deal, Michael is not owned by ANYONE, and will never be owned by anyone, I have no more influence on him or Brian than any of their friends or staff. Michael goes his own way and he does NOT like drama. When he asked me why the security was there, Xenia remarked, 'Maya, tell him about those crazy guys,' and I responded, "Hey he doesn't know anything about all this nonsense and problably doesn't need to hear it from me." Brian later filled him in, at which time he just shook his head in disbelief of some of the incredibly nasty things these folks have done. Oh well..Enough of that drama.

One interesting experience was that during one of the party situations, we discussed both being Road Warriors..driving trips are a goal-oriented procedure and that we don't allow any dilly-dallying around and you'd better bring a coffee can if you have a bladder the size of a walnut..

A man after my own heart..Cheshie was heard to say in my general direction, 'Boy THAT sounds familiar, heheh'.

Apparently Michael's father lives in Atlanta and he's visited there many times. Catcharm was devasted by that news, hehe..

While making our way back to the hotel elevators, we were invaded by a crowd of Daytona 500 fans and had to wait out the rush in the lobby. Fate was with us. Michael wandered by, and as we were relaying the events to Ketana over the phone, I asked Michael if he were in a hurry, to which he replied "I'm in a hurry to get a beer'..heh.

I told him the lady that was stranded in the ice was on the phone and could he offer his condolences. He immediately took the phone, (while admiring the Razor's lovely design) and spoke to Ketana, comforting her on the fact that she couldn't make it and in general being a true gentleman.

Needless to say, Ketana was thrilled to have Michael on her phone, hehe..

:)

Anyway, Sunday night was yet another party at the bar, Brian was gracious and we gave him, Xenia and Michael the cast thank you cards we'd made with our little messages and a gift for each of them. We gave Xenia a gorgeous green dragonfly perfume bottle covered in Austrian Crystals, and we gave Brian a lovely hip flask wrapped in buttery soft white leather and appliqued with a nice red Canadian maple leaf on the front. He was so touched it brought a tear to his eye. Michael's gift unfortunately was sitting in the luggage compartment of a flight to Orlando on Jet blue that never got off the ground. We just have to send it on later, I guess..but he did appreciate the card we gave him and thanked us profusely.

Michael left early Sunday night for home, Brian the following day, and Xenia will leave tomorrow morning.

Anyway, many many more Wheelchair of Death's adventures later and we all staggered back to our rooms and packed..My flight home the following Monday morning at the butt-crack of dawn did nothing to help my 4 days of no sleep..:)

I arrived safe and relatively sound, and am currently doing a blood transfusion to help clear my head.

I hope you all had a great time and many many thanks to Brian Downey who's philosphy of making the fans feel at home and one of the family is much appreciated. No other cast member has done so much for us...we love you Brian and hope to see you again soon.

For Xenia, she was SO lovely and funny and charming and many breakfasts were shared and car trips, (one of these days I"m sure she'll look back on it and laugh..ehe)

and her baby and mother are so adorable and she's such a tremendously good mother herself...

As for Michael, I think this might be a milestone turned because he's given me some pics to upload to the MM.com site, and I think he's realized the power the fans can have in making his appearances profitable and fun for him to attend, without a lot of drama..hopefully.

Now for the thank-yous.

Thank you to Angel for her tireless devotion to being a great cast supporter and for having such a sweet personality that Brian was goo-goo over her leaving.

Thanks to Catcharm for being such a 'bad girl' I guess working at CNN does something to ya..:)

Thanks especially to Peridot Eyes, who we've known online for years but never met and who's resourcefullness was met with great enthusiasm. She and Michael hit it off tremendously and in talking about politics, she gave him a run for his money, which is really saying something.

Thanks to Cheshire for being the perfect roomie, quiet, no snoring, no drama, and being generous to a fault.

Thanks to Veyron, who we could NOT have done without at the con, his professionalism in filming and being such a sweet guy will not be forgotten. Poor boy was being used as a courier between the more disabled parties for convienece and he didn't complain at all.

Thanks to Ketana for keeping us abreast of the misinformation brigade out there, I doubt anyone is going to take the word of folks the cast doesn't like.

And to Aeon, Dreams of Kai , we gots stuff for ya my lovelies !!

And a special thanks to BK, who's hard work was instrumental in getting Xenia here in a timely manner and all those hours spent at Kinkos making copies of pics for the cast member's table. You rock, dude.

Signing off now, I'll have video soon, just gotta install my software and dub the tapes onto dvds...Just you guys wait.

Thanks, thanks, thanks so much for this wonderful write up Maya, as you must be so tired.   I'm glad you all had fun, it's worth the sleep loss.

I look forward to seeing all your hard work.

It's a real shame some ppl that call them selfs fans have to carry on the way they did but in the end it's their loss not anybody else's.

Thanks once again.

Maya my friend, you had such tireless devotion and professionalism, I know how tired we all were and you just went above and beyond.  It was very generous of you to give your own photos to lexx fans you didn't even know because they admired them and wanted to have them signed by the cast.  Everyone loved your Megacon posters that you did, that fans were asking for them, and that was very generous of you to have copies made to give to the fans.  Brian and Xenia even signed mine for free!  I wanted to give them money for it, but they wouldn't hear of it, and  when Michael signed my four pictures, and I held out $20 for each one, he refused to take full price for it, and I said, wow, take what you want out of it, and he took only $40 instead of the normal $80, I was just astonished, he was very sweet to me.  And his thank you for the gift basket and telling me I was so sweet was very nice and kind of him, he really enjoyed just talking to us and we treated him like a regular person as he did us and that was such an amazing experience with him.  I didn't get to spend as much time like that at the TD con with him and it really made for some wonderful memories.  I really wanted to be with you when you interviewed MM, but he had his laptop and lexx postcards at his table, and he asked me if I would watch his table while he was gone, so I sat in his chair while he was off doing the interview, that was so great he trusted me to do that, and I know I'll get to see the interview later, so that was fine with me and I was glad to help him out and I got to meet some interesting fans that came by and told them when he'd be back, and they did come back later to get some things signed by him, Catcharm even had some small photos of MM in the Kai rainbow suit that she donated to his table, and fans were getting them autographed.

I got to spend time with Xenia at her table and she thanked me for 'taking care of her' and gave me a few sweet kisses on the cheek.  She is an amazing, smart and funny woman and a very wonderful and loving mom, her baby is just adorable and very sweet as he waved hello to all of us.  Her mother is beautiful and so friendly, I'm really glad to have met her again.

And Brian, god, what an intelligent, funny, witty and charming man.  He is very sweet and kind to everyone.  He's just a regular guy, but underneath it all is he so warm and very devoted, such a lovely, lovely man.  He did spend alot of time with us hanging out after his day was over at the con, and has so many funny and witty stories, he can keep you entertained and enthralled for hours.  Thank you Brian for making it such a wonderful experience and for being the kind human being that you are.

And a special hug and thank you to BK - Bailey Ketchum, the Lexx cast con manager, because frankly without him, the cast would not have been at megacon, he is such a good and honest guy and was always there when something needed to get done and I consider you a friend.

Maya pretty much summed it up in her report above.  A wonderful time was had by all, and I was so humbled and awed at how wonderful the cast was.  I was so happy to see old friends, and make new ones, you are all truly treasures.  I was saddened that Ketana, Aeonflux and Dreams of Kai couldn't make it to the con, you were always in our hearts and we toasted to all of you, damn that weather on the east coast that canceled your flights, but we did get some goodies for all of you, between me, maya and Veyron!

The only black part of the con was some incidences created by a group of other lexx fans, and Brian has posted about it at his board this morning:

http://briandowney.proboards24.com/index.cgi?board=conventions&action=display&thread=1161239022&page=5

Despite the incidences, I had a very good time and again, say thank you to the cast and to the other lexx fans and friends I met and spent time with.

And we have tons of pictures and video, done with permission from the cast.  I was going to try and get some photos up last night, but after a late half-eaten dinner, I crashed on the living chair for a couple hours, then woke up and stumbled my way to bed, I promise to get up a few today, and have to work on the others, I hope they came out well!

I just heard from Maya and Veyron about the Michael McManus interview!  It came out fantastic!  It's about 20 minutes long and we have full permission from Michael to air the video, it will be worked on and more than likely we'll put it on google for the fans to see, so stay tuned!

We also had permission from the cast to video their lexx cast panel they did at megacon, so please stay tuned for that also.

Well I'm so glad to read everyone has returned to their prospective homes all safe and sound!

It was my purest pleasure in keeping the fans updated on all the convention happenings, it was the least I could do!

And lastly Beth Wideria has very kindly offered me a refund on my convention ticket due to the fact that mother nature wasn't being cooperative..so if you couldn't make it I'd send Ms. Wideria an email requesting a refund and she'll be happy to either refund or put the money towards next year's convention ticket costs..up to you what you chose..isn't she a darling? Thanks Beth!

Ok, a couple of things have come up. A faction (guess who) is making accusations about us once again so I'll be brief and put this all behind us once and for all.

1. We are NOT Lexx groupies. If you really knew what a groupie was, you'd never say that. We don't screw the cast. We apparently leave that up to you folks.

2. We did indeed have permission to film the Lexx panel. Only one other person did not have permission and it was too emabarrassing to  point that out at the panel. The cast members left that for private correspondence. So NO they won't be 'suing' us for filming. Our setup was done in advance.

3. We did NOT have 'duffle bags' full of stuff to sign. I had one plastic folder with 10 pics to get sigs on, and yes it was crowded, and the first day of the con and many folks ahead of us were chatting at length with Michael so it did take a long time to get to his section of the table. I DID ask the person behind me (you know who you are) if they wanted to go ahead because I had tons of stuff and they refused and said "no that's ok, I have alot of stuff too." As for anyone complaining, it goes right up there with the other exaggeration of 'duffle' bags. I heard NO one complaining and in fact gave one lady in line an extra pic because Michael didnt bring any new head shots to get signed, for which she was very grateful.

4. I did NOT just go to the other Lexx booth to publicly 'attack' anyone. It's very convenient that the person making this accusation left out the reason for me being there. She'd uploaded pics of us on the internet and after being asked to take them down, she copped a 'tude. So it went downhill from there, and Yes I was angry and should probably have walked away earlier, but to say to them that I was 'making threats' was ludicrous.  The cops agreed.

5. There are NOT 3 'women controlling Lexx fandom". We had tons of other fans there hanging out with us and we included everyone of them in all activities and did NOT exclude anyone. If the other people declined to attend the party it's not any business of mine and I had no intention of preventing that since it wasn't my party. The only difference between us and the other Lexx group is they're hell-bent on making money off Lexx. One of them remarked that his 'investment' was sizable and felt justified in recouping some money by making unauthorized trading cards and t-shirts and selling them without the permission of the cast or Alliance. Just not kosher.  Also, I had not even heard about the folks asking Xenia to sign the tshirts for free that the fans had bought at their booth until Xenia told me. So the statement that we'd filled their heads with gossip is ludicrous. I never even saw the table until Sunday and had no intention of giving them the time of day, I was plenty busy by myself. But as usual they just couldn't let it go.

6. As for the 6 months of 'harrassment' what a crock, The only doing any online harrassment has been Miss J. I have NOT responded online to any of her vicious statements in weeks and weeks, in spite of the fact that she still puts up posts about us trying to bait us into resonding. I'm only posting this here today because the Misinformation Brigade has decided to make a mistake in assuming that we won't fight the slander. 'Nough said.

Anyway, I hope that clears up any confusion. Remember, take everything you see online with a grain of salt, even from me, and go to the source. Brian will speak for all of us..:)

Was that me? I'm pretty sure I told Michael, Brian, or Bailey about me filming the panel discussion beforehand. In any case, I didn't think it was a big deal. I wasn't there to film the whole thing and sell copies on eBay or anything like that. Besides, I didn't even have a tripod with me. What I taped, as a whole, would not be useful for a full-blown DVD. I just wanted to film as much as I could so that I could use choice bits and pieces to incorporate into a news piece for a future SadCast at SadGeezer.com.

As a matter of fact, I was thankful that someone else was there taping the whole thing with a tripod. I hope that tape turned out well.

If someone is planning to edit a proper DVD of the panel discussion, he or she can have a DVD copy of what I filmed. But only if he or she intends to compose a DVD of the panel discussion that would be put to good use. Perhaps Xenia, Brian, and Michael could sell such a DVD at their tables at future cons? I've seen panel discussion DVDs for sale at conventions.

But who knows. Maybe my shakey camera work would not blend in well with the steady shot from the tripod camera. However, there are many close-up shots that I made that were fairly steady.

I did notice that a third person was taping the panel discussion. I don't know who it was and I didn't get a good look at him. Is that who you were talking about?

BTW, hi! This is my first post here! I had fun at the convention. Although I don't remember all the names and faces, it was great to meet other Lexx fans at MegaCon 2007.

Hi Flamegrape and welcome aboard.  It wasn't you she was talking about, it was someone that's been giving Brian alot of trouble before the con and he didn't have permission to film the panel, you did, and Veyron and Maya did have permission from their convention manager.  The panel video will be put somewhere on the 'net when it's ready, but not for sale or any commercial use, just for the fans to watch and enjoy the lexx cast Q and A session.  But if you want to exchange DVD's of what was filmed, as it was from all different angles, contact Maya.

No, they are refering to somebody else who was expressly forbidden due to previous abuse.  Maya and I had express permission meaning we asked and discussed it before hand.  Bailey half jokingly but then not told me make sure you dont do what that guy did last time.  I did give Xenia and Michael the first full hour of the panel on DVD but that was all I had time to burn and it needs some minor editing and file manipulation, i missed about 10 seconds while switching batteries.

Whatever you are working on sounds great, keep in touch with peoples here and we can coordinate and share some media.  I believe the plan on the panel is to post a low bandwith low resolution but clean and clear version on one of the video hosting sites, and as far as any higher resolution version probably submit that to Brian and figure out a plan with him since he is the most easily available.  We did an interview with Michael as well, same location you used, and same idea on that, post a low resolution version and clear with him what to do beyond that.  We used tripods and he seemed pleased with the result.  So down the road, yes, there was some good media came out of this event, look forward to that.

So welcome to Lexxverse, keep coming back!

Ok, a little sidebar conversation at the signing table early on Sunday morning. Got there later than I wanted to, but Michael was already there, and had brought his own laptop to show the German short film he did called 'Alle Lieben Ihre Kinder"..

While we went thru the film frame by frame,  he explained alot of stuff about the motivation for scenes in the film.

1. The sunglasses fetish. Not the character's deal, it was his, he just had a lot of them, hehe/

2. The music for the 'stalking' scene in the marketplace. "Angel Song' by Massive Attack. Originally there was supposed to be audio but the equip was faulty and they didn't have time to redub it so they added the most appropriate track they could have thought of. The music gave a great sense of tension during the whole scene and was long enough to not have to loop and built to a climax of violence with the culmination of the murder of the 'target'

3. Told him I thought the whole 'turtleneck, dark glasses "look reminded me of Patrick McGoohan in "Secret Agent", to which he looked surprised, heh.

4. The scene in the restaurant was shot blocked where his face was sort of half showing, which was intentional and I asked him what they were saying because there was no translation and he said it was just everyday conversation, as if this kind of activity was so normally ingrained into his work, that it didn't even warrant a moment of guilt. He said the guy in the scene wasn't even an actor and they basically just filmed a regular conversation and added the bit at the end with the 'ear' and the birthday gift.

5. Obviously the end scene is the 'crime' being washed down the drain as to not affect the purity of the family life...VERY interesting.

Oh I forgot a bit. At the end of the little film, it has the credits. For Michael they used the name 'Michi M'..we thought it was some kind of 'hidden' name so that he wouldn't be recognized but he said that was the director's idea to do that, not his.

Speaking of being recognized..GELA ARE YOU OUT THERE? I asked Michael about the possibility of his being in Bremen a couple of years ago and this is why. Gela had gone to a McDonald's or something, and swore she saw Michael coming out and going to his Volkswagen van or wagon, whatever, She said he was wearing the same black leather vest he had on in the German film (we hadn't seen it yet) and that he stopped, waited for her to say something, but because he looked so different than he had at the end of Lexx, she thought it wasn't him after all, so she turned and walked into the place and he got in his car and drove away.

When she saw the little film, she knew immediately it must have been him because of the hair and vest he had on.  I asked him if he'd owned a VW van, and he said he'd had a VW Passat wagon, and had been in Bremen around that time, which must have been in the summer, due to the fact he was wearing NO shirt with the vest.

So Gela was right, she DID see him and in fact was the FIRST person to see Michael after Lexx, almost 3 years from the end of the series, but just didnt' know it because of the difference in his look.

Now I bet you'd have taken that camera phone pic, eh? hehehe.
