Was that me? I'm pretty sure I told Michael, Brian, or Bailey about me filming the panel discussion beforehand. In any case, I didn't think it was a big deal. I wasn't there to film the whole thing and sell copies on eBay or anything like that. Besides, I didn't even have a tripod with me. What I taped, as a whole, would not be useful for a full-blown DVD. I just wanted to film as much as I could so that I could use choice bits and pieces to incorporate into a news piece for a future SadCast at SadGeezer.com.

As a matter of fact, I was thankful that someone else was there taping the whole thing with a tripod. I hope that tape turned out well.

If someone is planning to edit a proper DVD of the panel discussion, he or she can have a DVD copy of what I filmed. But only if he or she intends to compose a DVD of the panel discussion that would be put to good use. Perhaps Xenia, Brian, and Michael could sell such a DVD at their tables at future cons? I've seen panel discussion DVDs for sale at conventions.

But who knows. Maybe my shakey camera work would not blend in well with the steady shot from the tripod camera. However, there are many close-up shots that I made that were fairly steady.

I did notice that a third person was taping the panel discussion. I don't know who it was and I didn't get a good look at him. Is that who you were talking about?

BTW, hi! This is my first post here! I had fun at the convention. Although I don't remember all the names and faces, it was great to meet other Lexx fans at MegaCon 2007.

Hi Flamegrape and welcome aboard.  It wasn't you she was talking about, it was someone that's been giving Brian alot of trouble before the con and he didn't have permission to film the panel, you did, and Veyron and Maya did have permission from their convention manager.  The panel video will be put somewhere on the 'net when it's ready, but not for sale or any commercial use, just for the fans to watch and enjoy the lexx cast Q and A session.  But if you want to exchange DVD's of what was filmed, as it was from all different angles, contact Maya.

No, they are refering to somebody else who was expressly forbidden due to previous abuse.  Maya and I had express permission meaning we asked and discussed it before hand.  Bailey half jokingly but then not told me make sure you dont do what that guy did last time.  I did give Xenia and Michael the first full hour of the panel on DVD but that was all I had time to burn and it needs some minor editing and file manipulation, i missed about 10 seconds while switching batteries.

Whatever you are working on sounds great, keep in touch with peoples here and we can coordinate and share some media.  I believe the plan on the panel is to post a low bandwith low resolution but clean and clear version on one of the video hosting sites, and as far as any higher resolution version probably submit that to Brian and figure out a plan with him since he is the most easily available.  We did an interview with Michael as well, same location you used, and same idea on that, post a low resolution version and clear with him what to do beyond that.  We used tripods and he seemed pleased with the result.  So down the road, yes, there was some good media came out of this event, look forward to that.

So welcome to Lexxverse, keep coming back!

Ok, a little sidebar conversation at the signing table early on Sunday morning. Got there later than I wanted to, but Michael was already there, and had brought his own laptop to show the German short film he did called 'Alle Lieben Ihre Kinder"..

While we went thru the film frame by frame,  he explained alot of stuff about the motivation for scenes in the film.

1. The sunglasses fetish. Not the character's deal, it was his, he just had a lot of them, hehe/

2. The music for the 'stalking' scene in the marketplace. "Angel Song' by Massive Attack. Originally there was supposed to be audio but the equip was faulty and they didn't have time to redub it so they added the most appropriate track they could have thought of. The music gave a great sense of tension during the whole scene and was long enough to not have to loop and built to a climax of violence with the culmination of the murder of the 'target'

3. Told him I thought the whole 'turtleneck, dark glasses "look reminded me of Patrick McGoohan in "Secret Agent", to which he looked surprised, heh.

4. The scene in the restaurant was shot blocked where his face was sort of half showing, which was intentional and I asked him what they were saying because there was no translation and he said it was just everyday conversation, as if this kind of activity was so normally ingrained into his work, that it didn't even warrant a moment of guilt. He said the guy in the scene wasn't even an actor and they basically just filmed a regular conversation and added the bit at the end with the 'ear' and the birthday gift.

5. Obviously the end scene is the 'crime' being washed down the drain as to not affect the purity of the family life...VERY interesting.

Oh I forgot a bit. At the end of the little film, it has the credits. For Michael they used the name 'Michi M'..we thought it was some kind of 'hidden' name so that he wouldn't be recognized but he said that was the director's idea to do that, not his.

Speaking of being recognized..GELA ARE YOU OUT THERE? I asked Michael about the possibility of his being in Bremen a couple of years ago and this is why. Gela had gone to a McDonald's or something, and swore she saw Michael coming out and going to his Volkswagen van or wagon, whatever, She said he was wearing the same black leather vest he had on in the German film (we hadn't seen it yet) and that he stopped, waited for her to say something, but because he looked so different than he had at the end of Lexx, she thought it wasn't him after all, so she turned and walked into the place and he got in his car and drove away.

When she saw the little film, she knew immediately it must have been him because of the hair and vest he had on.  I asked him if he'd owned a VW van, and he said he'd had a VW Passat wagon, and had been in Bremen around that time, which must have been in the summer, due to the fact he was wearing NO shirt with the vest.

So Gela was right, she DID see him and in fact was the FIRST person to see Michael after Lexx, almost 3 years from the end of the series, but just didnt' know it because of the difference in his look.

Now I bet you'd have taken that camera phone pic, eh? hehehe.
