Um, who's authorized to tell me if they went to TD last year and if they liked it? Why is it so expensive? I looked at the hotel pricing and it's outrageous too !!!

Ok this is the deal on TD. It's basically a Scifi fantasy camp for rich fans. It was started to sort of copy the Baseball and Football fantasy camps where the rich fan paid out the ass to hang out with his favority athlete (if they were there) and get in batting practice, or take classes in stuff from the players. The Scifi thing is expensive because they do it for charity and it's for a whole week instead of over a weekend.

The hotels are outrageous all the time and supposedly you get like a whopping $15 off each room per night. Big Whup. So a ticket of $250 split over 7 days comes out to $35 per day which is still pretty steep, but apparently the relaxed atmosphere is better than most Cons which are basically a zoo. You're supposed to be able to interact with the cast members (if they're there all the time) in party or seminar type settings. Last year, Brian, Ellen, Michael, Jeffrey and Xenia all went. This year it's Jeff, Michael and Ellen. Ellen helps run the charity portion of the event, since Bill Wanstrom is her publicity agent.

According to last year's attendees, the fans had more fun than the cast members did. Michael was scheduled for the whole week but because of Macbeth, ended up doing 2 and half days. Brian and Jeff came in at the end of the week, weren't too thrilled with the arrangements, and  Xenia was there all week, and Ellen was bouncing around all the time, hehe.

Brian and Xenia passed this year tho, due to work committments so no 'reunion' at all. Still to be seen how long each will participate at the event.

Damn, I was thinking of camping it just outside of town or close by just to be able to afford it. Camping is pretty nice in BC all the mountains around Vancouver are pretty nice. Then we could car pool it in every morning in say maybe 2 cars to keep costs down. I have a lot of camping gear and a tent that will sleep about 5. Then I would head out to Vancouver Island to see my buddy Dave and have some pipe dreams, do some boating.  Oh, I'm also a scuba diver and there are some awesome dives around Vancouver and on the island.

I'm still recovering  from Timeless (financially - and the rest!:icon_wink:) but did have  great time. The opportunity to meet a sizeable chunk of the cast couldn't be passed up.. especially the informal way it happened, but also a huge part of it was meeting other Lexxians - in the flesh or by 'phone.

I haven't any experiences of the zoo-ish conventions maya describes - not sure I could hack it..

Oh, to have a Lexxian bit in a UK/Europe Con....

Hi Jerhume, how did your convention in the UK go over the weekend?  You had a lexx bit you were in too?

Um... I can authorize myself to tell you I went there last year.  It is outrageously expensive, so you need at least two grand and that's on the low end, hotel, airfaire, con ticket, plus all the acitivities you have to pay for separately, and food and drink, and autographs, the con lasts like a good 7 - 8 days, so you need lots of dough.  I did have a great time with the people I met there, with the exception of one guy who made Xenia Seeberg's time there not very nice (plus several other things I won't get into), which in turn affected his fellow fans for what he did.  Anyway, I know from Michael myself how long he will be at TD this year and pretty much when, so if you are serious about going, contact me privately and I can fill you in more about this con in relation to what I know about him going.  And as always going to their site is the best way to find information for guests and activities.

I alos got to go last year and had a wonderful time. It is a VERY expensive con but it was fun meeting other lexxians and interacting with the cast members while they were there. I prices the hotel, con ticket, and airfare and came up with aprox $3,000 before any additional expenses for food, drink, con activities, autographs, etx. It's a great weeks vacation if you can afford it. But afraid it's out of my budget this year.

I haven't decided yet whether to spend the money. If I do go, I'll probably only go a couple of days, since there's an Actors Panel that Michael and Alan are doing, and film that. They did one last year, but it was never shown, (big surprise there) I could probably get by on a day pass ticket and one or two nights at the hotel, but I'm trying to justify the expense to myself. Someone may still talk me into going, still remains to be seen, heheh.

Well if you plan on going for 3 days, then I'd just buy a whole week pass, because last year they were charging $100.00 a day for a day pass, which sucked, because if the actor you wanted to see that day wasn't doing anything, then you just wasted your money.

Well I'm still waiting to hear back from the Horse's mouth as to what days' are being scheduled for appearances  and what other 'activities' are included. Last year people paid thru the nose for the Boat Cruise, only to have them let folks on that didn't pay and then drop their prices late in the game anyway, so since there's still tons of time left, I'll just have to wait and see. Tho a nice short train ride from Seattle isn't out of the question,  might be fun.
