The Feminine Mystique  I've always been curious about this book and I'm glad I took  the time to read it even if it is a bit outdated for today.  I so remember my friends mothers who were stay at home housewives dealing with the issues described in this book.  Weight problems, alcoholism, depression, boredom, or just being sort of unhappy but they were ding exactly what they were expected by society to do - stay at home and raise children. It's also interesting because I came along at a point in history when this situation was changing. I remember that my dad had to co-sign for me to get my first credit card (a necessary form of ID so I could rent an apartment) and I bought my condo a few years after the laws changed that would have required me to have a male (husband or father) co-sign the loan and as title holder.

Geezus, it took that long for the bank to recognize that women are breadwinners too?

Murder in Italy, by Candace Dempsey, you can find it on Amazon.

I have been following this story since day one. Candace is an excellent writer, her adventures into the wilderness are fascinating, and even as a guy, I totally relate to her experiences.

I just finished 'The Satanic Verses' by Salmma Rushdie. It's a very interesting book. I can sort of see why he had to go into hiding, but if you look at the overall story, it examines beliefs vs. reality on several different levels.

You know I have a copy of that but have yet to read it, but its a keeper.  I used to read a lot, and  for a time my book reviews were about books that had the word "affair" in the title (ask Maya, she will be in stitches laughing).  I have a book Brian suggested, "The God Principle" or something like that, havent read it, but it looks good.  I long ago read a lot of the sci fi classics.

So are you girls off to some pajama party, or did that already happen?  Did flip flop come too?  Sorry, you know I am a teaser.:D

No, no pillow fight, but I DID just rent the big tub for the Jello wrestling event on Monday night, then the trip to the Marine Base, where we'll be judging a "Tighty Whitey' contest, and then on WEDNESDAY, we go to Virginia Beach and trap...err...'meet' some Frat boys and force them to carry us around on their shoulders just for the fun of it.. All the while having Jose, the Cabana boy, feeding us grapes and Twinkies...not necessarily in that order..
