I've heard so much about Firefly but never seen it. It sounds good and I often see the movie version of it in Tesco's and think I'll buy that but then I think maybe it would be best to see the series first.

But if you watch the series and if you find it drags in some places, and get tired of it, you might not watch the movie. To me, watching the movie is nothing like any of the episodes of the series I have seen. I found they explain things in the movie adequately for a brand new viewer to watch and follow it without needing the series to explain things, and watching the movie first would not ruin watching the series later, IMHO.
Just to say, keep in mind the movie is humongously better than the series. (Watching the series to me was kinda like watching "Bonanza" goes to space. They made the movie a movie instead of just another episode in the series for very good reasons.) :win:

I loved the series, but haven't seen the flick yet. It premieres on Sky next week apparently, so I'll get back to you! I've been waiting to see it for ages.

Well the series actually combines a sort of 'western' theme with regular Scif, and it has the usual running theme of 'misfits' or 'escaped criminals' trying to avoid capture by the Bad Old Alliance...or whatever. It's actually a very Lexxy type show. It has a love slave (Companion) an emotionally detached good looking male lead, a few misfits here and there, but thank god, no talking computer.
Sort of like an updated version of Blake's 7 with a western twist. I really like the series but the movie knocked my socks off.

Well then I think I'll get the movie as it sounds my sort of thing. And I'll let you know what I thought of it.
Reminds me of the misfits stories of Red Dwarf series, they were odd lot too. I really used to love that series.

Sky keeps me sane when Joe is home on holidays LOL He's Disney obsessive, and he gets a bit mental without his Lilo and Stitch fix ^_^
Just finished watching Serenity... holy... monkey... shoes! I loved it! It was a great way to wrap it up, where the series was cut so short, but there were a couple things that bothered me. I won't mention the biggest thing so that I don't spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet, but on the whole it was VERY worth the wait and will be joining my DVD collection in the new year when I go on a 'spoil Joe and I' spree after the holidays heh heh
The action was wicked, and the humor, as always, spot on. I'm VERY impressed!

Hey glad you guys like the movie, one of my faves... I got to meet Summer Glau (River Tam) in Arlington at the Wizard World convention a few months ago, she was terribly nice and posed for pics with my neice and myself. (Also got to meet Sean Astin) WOO HOO.
