I guess this post could technically have been included in the "posts" section, althought this one's a little more subjective than just asking "what is your favorite...", or "which character would you, in a perfect world, like to have a chance encounter with in the ludicrouslya dorned bangatorium of a harem on Boomtown?" Today's question:

What is the one thing that you wish Lexx would have done differently?

Now this question involves a little turning of the gears, and I really want those of you who respond to think long and hard about this one. I'm interested to see what everyone has to say, but I have just a few ground rules. First of all, "they shouldn't have ended the show" is off limits. That was the Beans' decision, and we should respect it, so think within the confines of the show. Secondly, be as specific as you can. Try to avoid ambiguous answers like "made season 4 better."

In response to my own question, one thing I'd really like to have seen was Duke's storyline played out in full. The Duke vs. Prince conflict was one of the most interesting parts of season 3, but they dropped it midway through the season never to pick it up again. It was clear that Duke, like Prince, was something other than human (another one of Valdron's "smart monkeys"* perhaps?), and it's too bad we never found out any more about him. I think it would have been cool if they could have carried this storyline over into season 4. They could have continued/wrapped it up in a number of different ways, and I've always seen this as a major lost opportunity.

So, now that I've shown you mine, show me yours.

* Refers to the following essay from Den's "Darrow Files":  http://www.joulestaylor.com/nonfic/lexx/darrow8hnh.html

What could they have done differently in lexx.... I do agree with you on the Duke story arc, it ended too soon, that's one thing I talked about with other people, his character was sorely under-used and to see him and Prince battle for power would have been interesting...his death was kind of an anti-climax to the battle of evil vs. evil.

The beans did delve a bit into Xev's past in the box, Kai's battle before his death and Stan getting caught by Feppo and Smoor and them getting his information, but I would liked to have seen them delve deeper into their past, what shaped them into who they were, what made them do what they did, we saw that most with Xev in flashbacks of her life in a box and her wife bank training.

I would have really liked it if they would have delved more into the insect wars/early Brunnen G battles.  The Brunnen G were left with relics of ships and old artifacts....a past long gone...I would have liked to have seen the race of romantic warriors in real battle and action against the early insect race.  Where did  the insects come from?  Did they follow the Brunnen G from Brunnis to Brunnis 2, the darkzone to the light universe?  Were they already a threat long long ago in the light universe?  How did the insects become sentient?  When did a cockroach know it wanted to be the terror of the universe and kill all of humanity?  So I really would have liked to have seen it delve more into the insect wars.  I may have more to add later.....work always cuts things short..

All of the above - apart from that, mine are really extras, rather than changes..

I would like to know more about the Time Prophet - is she Brunnen G? or another race entirely? Is she the only one of her kind? How did Kai know where to find the uncertain moon ( & what is  that?) & is there a relationship between her/them & Vlad/Divine Executioners, or was it the usual practice of bringing back familiar actors to other roles?

I consider that the Beans did a wonderful job of painting a picture of what life was like on the Cluster in a few scenes - but nevertheless would have loved to see a little more, particularly more about Bioviziers & the processes involved in creating Divine Assasins & Executioners. Perhaps some weird & gory scenes in the Biochambers (with, of course, an unclothed Kai) & I would be interested to see Mantrid & Brizon at work and find out how Brizon survived/escaped the Cleansing & how Mantrid was exiled.

And finally, I would have liked to see more of Kai as an Assassin, going about the Light Universe being absolutely evil & deadly...

....I am aware that the last three are self indulgence, really & perhaps would even have detracted from the rhythm of the narrative & the slow unveiling of info about Kai had they been included at any length..... but .....

I personally would have enjoyed another encounter with the reincarnated Mantrid in season 4. Deiter Laser is an excellent actor, and I really liked his reappearance in "K-town".

I agree, that man was brilliant and he scared the crap out of the crew on set as well, hehhe.

A reincarnated Mantrid on Earth would have been splendid.

Well, my theory is that he was incomplete because part of him was still dead in the part of Dead Kai, therefore he was el strango in the cabesa (head).

You know, he couldn't help himself.  He wasn't mentally whole.  Plus, when Kai was alive, he marched to the beat of a different drummer then, too.  :bigsarc:

Viva Lexx Vegas..hope I got the name of the episode right..but if you knew me..you'd understand..'sides I'm friggin' tired..anyhoo to the heart of the matter..Kai and the two ladies of the evening..woulda been a riot if they had gotten their mits on him..given him the time of his 'dead' life and surprise surprise surprise..not a man but a machine..would they have given him a discount? who knows..but it woulda been fun to see the old dead assassin givin' head..buwahahahahaha..instead of his usual brush 'em off and keep moving 'cause the dead do not...

oh yeah did anybody notice how so absorbed he was with the bobble-head figurine on the hood of the taxi? that was so cute..

I think that would have been brilliant to see.  And also a reincarnated Brizon, who would have had the most meglomania?

I also would have liked to have seen more of the heretics struggle against the Divine Order, Thodin got killed off way to quickly.

The Time Prophet told that what happened before would happen again, I would have liked towards the end some indication that what we have watched, as opposed to character reincarnation alone, was actually going to re-occur. When we saw Kai become finally truly alive and die on the asteroid then a shot of Kai back on Brunnis 2 laughing with friends, oblivious to what had happened in his last cycle, could have indicated that. Maybe that would have been too final for the series?

Kai was intrigued by Prince's offer, that is why he played chess with him again.  It was the only way Kai could finally find peace by becoming alive again so he could seek his final and ultimate death.  That's where it all seemed to be heading.  But his ironic laugh at the end, was it the irony of crashing and dying like he did the first time that made him laugh?  Or was he laughing because he realized this time he would truly remain dead?
