I'm just interested and like to know what weather people are having around the world.

At present my weather here in the south east of England is nice and sunday, still mild for this time the year.

Brrrr.... it's chilly here, it's the 10th coldest October on record and we had snow a couple of times.  36 degrees this morning, warming up to around 50.

Core that's amazing you had snow one minute and then mild again.

But then again in the UK you can experience four seasons in day.

Today has been really cold.  The weather ppl say next week the weather is going to be attic conditions:(

Winter's here!  We're getting a trace to an inch of snow where I live today, and south of me is getting from 2-6 inches, with more snow expected here next week.  EEK!  I'm so not ready for winter.

Cold here too, in the 20's and windy with a windchill in the single digits to teens, but at least the sun's out, after a day of gray and rain yesterday.

Well, let's see...

On Monday it was in the upper thirties with drizzle and a hell of a lot of wind.

On Tuesday it was in the mid- to upper seventies; clear skies, nary a breeze...pretty much an all-around perfect day.

Today it's in the twenties, and we're getting pounded by frozen sleet...as if that wasn't delightful enough, my car's heater shorted out on me this morning as I was leaving for work, so in lieu of coffee, my morning wakeup jolt came in the form of all the freezing rain that cascaded down my back while I was fiddling with my fuse box with fingers that were rapidly losing feeling.

The moral of this story: I think my state has ADD.

The weather over here in the south east, has been awful.  Really really windy and wet.  A friend of mine sent me a article saying that some parts of London had Torando and there was a lot of structual damage, hell.

Almost as be as the 1987 hurricane we had in the south east.  I remember walking to work and bits of roof tiles and tree branches flying past me:(

For a mid-December, it's disgustingly hot over here today. I *hate* global warming and local warming and all kinds of warming, it's the SNOW time of the year, for pity's sake. So where's the snow? I want some snow...:icon_evil::089:

It's like that here too, warm enough that instead of being snow it's rain, that could change next week, we may get some snow in time to make it a white Christmas.

It's been dry today, but blasted windy as hell.  My poor left hand side of my face is burning from pain because of the wind.  I can't wear a scarf or anything against my neck or face because hurts.  Shame that as I have loads of very nice scarfs too.

Well by the time I walked to work the hurricane had died down, but it was hair rising, it was still quite windy.  Hell if I had actually gone in the night to work when the worst of the wind and rain was about, I'd ended up been lifted into the air.

Those dogs don't seem to mind the snow, after all most of them can come in from the cold but it's the poor wild animals, like the deer you've got feel sorry for:(

Holy shit!  You should have the room mate go out with a broom or shovel onto the deck and knock that big snow over hang down, too much weight on the roof is bad.  It does look pretty though.

Putting things in perspective.

Weather Bulletin - North Dakota

Priceless

THINK ABOUT THIS FOR A MOMENT.

North Dakota News

This text is from a county emergency manager out in the western part of North Dakota state after a snowstorm.

WEATHER BULLETIN

Up here, in the Northern Plains, we just recovered from a Historic
event---may I even say a "Weather Event" of "Biblical Proportions" --- with a historic blizzard of up to 44" inches of snow and winds to 90 MPH that broke trees in half, knocked down utility poles, stranded hundreds of motorists in lethal snow banks, closed ALL roads, isolated scores of communities and cut power to 10's of thousands.

FYI:

George Bush did not come.

FEMA did nothing.

No one howled for the government.

No one blamed the government.

No one even uttered an expletive on TV.

Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton did not visit.

Our Mayor did not blame Bush or anyone else.

Our Governor did not blame Bush or anyone else, either.

CNN, ABC, CBS, FOX or NBC did not visit - or report on this category 5 snowstorm. Nobody demanded $2,000 debit cards.

No one asked for a FEMA Trailer House.

No one looted.

Nobody - I mean Nobody demanded the government do something.

Nobody expected the government to do anything, either.

No Larry King, No Bill O'Rielly, No Oprah, No Chris Mathews and No
Geraldo
Rivera.
No Sean Penn, No Barbara Streisand, No Hollywood types to be found.

Nope, we just melted the snow for water.

Sent out caravans of SUV's to pluck people out of snow engulfed cars.

The truck drivers pulled people out of snow banks and didn't ask for a penny.

Local restaurants made food and the police and fire departments delivered it to the snowbound families.

Families took in the stranded people - total strangers.

We fired up wood stoves, broke out coal oil lanterns or Coleman lanterns.

We put on extra layers of clothes because up here it is "Work or Die."

We did not wait for some affirmative action government to get us out of a mess created by being immobilized by a welfare program that trades votes for 'sittin at home' checks.

Even though a Category "5" blizzard of this scale has never fallen this early, we know it can happen and how to deal with it ourselves.

"In my many travels, I have noticed that once one gets north of about 48 degrees North Latitude, 90% of the world's social problems evaporate."

It does seem that way, at least to me.

I hope this gets passed on.

Maybe SOME people will get the message. The world does NOT owe you a living.

We just had an icy heavy rain that left standing water that was starting to turn icy a couple hours ago, and now it's turned into snow and it's coming down really fast.  The drive home tonight is not going to be fun!

All the Alamo city seems to get is other people's melted snow. Dark gray sky all day today and cold rain (to us -> 44 degrees, "feels like 40"). Tomorrow expected to rain and warming to about 50 degrees. Christmas Day the report says sunny and windy with the high going about 60 degrees. For New Year's Day the weather.com says partly cloudy and the high going to about 68 degrees. (Around here Santa's sleigh better have wheels!)

Ack, Chessie, not again!  Will the 2 feet of snow you just got last week melt much before the next round hits?  Stock up on groceries and firewood in case the heat goes out!

It's nice this morning, clear and 32 degrees F.  We're gettting a rain snow mix, turning over to snow this weekend, which probably means ice again.  Yay.

Oh that  really suck Chesshire.  I hope you keep save now.

Well today and yesterday was real windy and wet.  It was so bad today I could not stand up right for long.  My poor neighbour tree fell over and smashed her tall clay pot in two:(

Last night a tree came down in the road and another neighbour was lucky, because if it had fallen towards her it would of smashed the front of her house and if it had fallen backwards, it would smashed the parked cars in the road.  It was huge tree and it was a miracle it just fell on the pavement.  Anyway the council came early this morning and made a right racket with the chain saws and then put it in this machine that made it into saw dust.

I've just check the bbc weather page and our wind speed right now is 46 miles per hour, oh shit.  It's been awful over night too.  We've had stormy weather reported over night and all day Thursday and winds speeds rising.

Part of my back gate as completely been blown away.  I'm glad that it is quite far away from my kitchen and back rooms.

Keep save Shenadora, Gela and Aenea in Germany I fare it will be a lot worse then it is over here in the UK.

Hay Chessie, it's a good job I don't have any dogs, but next door does, she has 3.

My two cats were in all day yesterday, so I knew they were ok.

This morning you'd never believe it, it is nice and sunny.  You can even see a bit of blue sky:).  The awful winds gone along with the rain.  But hay it's 10.28am and anything can change from now onwards.

I'm going to my sisters later, so it's bound to rain again.

Dang, Cheshire, you guys are getting hit so bad, I hope you carry a little shovel with you when you venture out!  It's just gray and gloomy here, high in the mid 20s, we're going to hit a deep freeze again this weekend.

We got the white stuff last night, well early morning.  My cat Kai came home covered in it and jumped on my bed to show me, git.

Well you'd never know now that we had snow because it is all melted.

I hope Chessie melts soon too, she could do with a break from the white stuff:)

It's bad outside, we got a foot of snow over the weekend, and now the snow's finally lightened up, so I've been out shoveling and am taking a break waiting for a brother to come and help me tackle the huge snowbank behind my car, plus I still have to get the car cleaned off and more shoveling around it.  Not a fun weekend, but at least I knew I was going to be holed up ahead of time, so I did some shopping Friday nite before it all hit, I'm sure it's going to be an awful commute in the morning to work, not looking forward to that or the rest of the shoveling.

Oy everytime she puts down the shovel she calls me to tell me how many snowflakes she's shoveled! And now I heard the manager of the park has plowed more snow on top of her car..told her to go outside and beat said manager over the head with his own leg!
buwahahahahahaha..

We're waiting for a snow storm ourselves..it's gonna be pretty, I hope..but a hellva commute in the morning..I have to walk to the subway and it's several long blocks but never fear..shecat's gonna put some runners on her stilletto's!

Thanks for ensuring she takes plenty of breaks :P YUK YUK YUK! It was snowing pretty hard and the wind was blowing on my way into work today. There's nothing like getting a face full of snow on the way to the bus stop to ensure you're fully awake. :fear2:

It is lovely and sunny this morning but kid you not that's where it ends.  The air has a chill about it.  Wednesday that just went, my friend kindly drove me up to hospital and well the hail stones were so heavy, she had to pull in to drive way as she could not see where she was going.  Fortunenately it did not last long.

I went out and shoveled a bit, but can't do much, so I'm waiting for my brother to come over tonight or tomorrow to help.  I almost DID disappear under the snow, the wind was blowing something fierce and the snow banks are almost as tall as me and will be taller once we shovel out.

That's good you can get out now.  In snow like that one needs a snow plough to drive down the road and go to work in.  I hope you don't get no more.

It's pissing down with rain over here but it's quite mild.

I remember when I was a little girl we got such a blizzard, when they finally plowed and shoveled the snow piles were over 7feet tall, we even took pictures and mailed them out to our family in California, boy were they shocked. If you are born to a place/country where they get snow like Angel does then you're raised to be prepared for situations like that. You simply have to stockpile food and water and wait it out like Angel did, if not you're in a hellva pack of trouble! If you move to a place where they get storms you better know what the hell you're doing or should be doing otherwise it can get deadly! I personally can't see living in a snowbound place like that as my bloodlines run from the caribbean but if I had to..I'd learn how to shoot a bear to survive! LOL..

To say that it has been terrible would be an understatement. Holiday weekend and it poured down - after being sunny and warm for god knows how long :|

Oh well!

I hope it's a better day later on.

It's so beautiful out, sunny with a high in the upper 60's.  I'm going to spend the afternoon going to see the new POTC movie, then heading to a friend's house for a BBQ, should be a nice night for it.

It's supposed to be dry and in the 90's all week! UG If it stays this hot for long the busses will start breaking down because the air conditioning burns out. That makes for some miserable commutes.

I'm glad you are all having nice weather in the states. I on the other hand I'm having awful weather. It's just rained and rained and rained, I do hate the rain. I'm glad we don't have the bad humidity like we had this time last year though.

We're having rain again today for about the 16th straight day. Got rain in the forecast for the next week also. Floods all over the area, lots of high water closings and torrential downpours here. I think Texas is going tropical...

Dang DFG, did you get yourself some more fans? Keep them running day and night. A little secret to get your body temperature down that Maya taught me, is to take a washcloth and run it under really cold water then gently rub the back of your ear with it and the inside of your ear and it really does help cool you down.

OY!

imagine this..5am NYC time sleeping like a log when heavy raindrops hitting the airconditioner wake me up..sleepily I rub my eyes as the rain intensifies. Think to myself as I shuffle off to the bathroom, maybe I should turn off the A/C before lightening strikes it? By the time I shuffle back to my bedroom lightening streaks the dark morning sky..okay..so..decision has been made and off goes the A/C right before this loud boom of thunder sets off all the car alarms up and down the block. Rain intensifies and now as I look out my window to see sheets and sheets of rain coming down on my little corner of the world I wonder to myself..damn girl..this rain is getting serious..and serious it was..3 inches of water in the span of one hour and get this folks..a tornado f2 touched down in Brooklyn of all places..ripped off roofs from houses, tore up trees up and down the borough and to top it all off the subways were flooded..:D yeah...I stayed home..my momma did not raise no fool!! here it is 6pm NYC time and the subways are still not back to normal..what a way to wake up..*yawn*

Geez, chessie!  Some parts of the city here had a bad hail storm on Monday night and on the news it was up to 8 inches on this guy's deck.  Glad it didn't hit where you are.

Hot damn, it's a good thing I got out of Denver when I did.

Then again, my home town is presently hotter than two rats fucking in a wool sock, so perhaps it wouldn't have hurt to prolong my vacation a bit.

:rain2:Today it has not stopped raining:(  Yesterday it rain all afternoon and evening.  They say it's going rain again tomorrow:(.  I expect  we will soon get more flooding alerts or warning and those poor ppl who are trying to recover from the last flooding, well it's them I feel sad for:(.

I thought August would be nice after having two months constant blastard rain.

That's too bad, DFG. :(  There's alot of flooding going on everywhere.  It's really bad in Texas and Oklahoma right now.  The southwestern part of my state and the southeastern part of the next state got flooded badly as well, killing 6 people.  Even way up here, we got storm fronts from hurricane Erin.

Oh goodie...they just updated the forcast for this afternoon. Severe thunderstorm with large hail likely. Could be an interesting bus ride home.

What an absolutely beautiful day it was in the wormy apple! High 70'sF, sunny, blue, blue skies..not a cloud to be seen, nice breeze blowing around and I spent the entire day in my sister's backyard. I was sad when the sun set but then the lightening bugs came out and my niece loves to terrorize me with buggies..evil child that she is..*sighs* stunningly beautiful day..oh and the porterhouse steaks on the grill were delicious too! :bounce_pinka::s010a::kissmyass::c030a:

Going to be another hot and humid one today, the last breath of summer is upon us.  Going to be a high of 90 and this weekend a high of 64, vast differences in just a few days.

Damn Texas weather. Day before yesterday it was 83 degrees and overnight it drops to about 36. I drove home for an hour in sleet and rain after dinner and 2 bottles of red wine. That's an experience I wouldn't want to repeat. And today it's bright and sunny and 54 !

We just went through a winter storm, we got at least 4 inches of snow or so, enough to make a mess and for hazardous driving.  We finally got plowed, so I got my car cleaned off and will have a bit more shoveling to do later after I get back, going to make myself something to eat then head to the hospital for a couple of hours or so to see my Mom.

It suck snow. Over here the weather is awful. I could not go out today, because it is raining very heavy and quite windy too. I'm not quite over my cough, so can't risk going out in that plus the wind hurts my face and I can't wear scrafs against my neck or face:(.

Yuck Chessie. It's been nothing but snow, snow, snow here too. It snowed Saturday, Sunday, Monday was sunny, then it snowed yesterday all afternoon, and it's snowing again, and going to snow late Thursday, all day Friday and again Sunday an Monday. Ugh. I'm tired of brushing off the car, shoveling and driving in it.

It was snowing when I left the house for work tonight!!!  It is only a little flurry and won't stick but it was exciting to see the first flakes here in GA.  I know it is nothing compared to what most of you have gotten over the last couple of months but it is still kinda cool.

My cousin in Canada just told me in Picking, Ontario where she lives, they've had 25cm of snow. She says her husband says is sure looks pretty but she said he'll change his mind, as he has a lot of shoveling to do.

Over here it is blastard cold. That ice cold feeling. I'll be going to bed fully dressed and the eletric blanket tonight. No sleeping in the buff for me

A bit windy, actually...:-)
http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,23309216-401,00.html
I forgot some plastic bags with litter and rubbish on the balcony of my flat in Brno... I am seriously worried, I don't like the thought of all that stuff winding up on my neighbours' balconies...;-) Though I guess that I'll be quite content, if I find the balcony upon my arrival there - and if our block of flats will still have a roof...:-)
I love it when it's windy - but this is too windy even for my liking, I'd be much happier if we just had a nice, long, white winter. Lots of snow, reasonably cold... *sigh* I hate these changes in climate... I want my four seasons! (With summers as short as possible, though...;))

It's a sunny 42 here. Good thing. There's no water in our building at work today (the main water pipe sprung a leak, you know the one that runs directly above the computer lab) So it's a 7 minute hike to the next building over to get to the bathroom. DON'T WAIT TILL THE LAST MINUTE TO GO!

In the early hours of Monday morning the whole of south east of England is going have one big massive storm. It is estimated that the wind speeds are going reach from 70 to 80 miles per hour. Also it is going be pouring with rain.

They say it's going be similiar to the storm of 1987. The weather people also say this storm is going reach other parts of the UK and Ireland and Wales too.

That sounds like a tropical storm, DFG, that's what they'd call it here with winds that high. I hope people in those areas will be okay.

No it's not tropical Angel, this what it actual says,
Flood alert amid storm warnings

The Environment Agency has issued a severe flood warning for the whole of the Devon and Cornwall coast amid storm warnings for south and west Britain.

Large parts of England and Wales are braced for what experts warn may be the worst storm of the winter.

The Met Office issued severe weather warnings for much of the UK, with winds of up to 80mph (130km/h) expected.

Forecasters said storms on Monday and Tuesday could disrupt travel and bring down power lines and trees.

The agency's director of operations, Paul Leinster, said: "There will be a potent cocktail of strong winds, wave action and high tides from Sunday night through until Wednesday."

He said that gale force winds were expected to combine with spring high tides to raise water levels along the coast by up to 1.5 metres over normal levels.

By 1700 GMT on Sunday there were seven severe flood warnings in place in Devon and Cornwall and 28 other warnings in locations including southern England, and the Severn and Mersey estuaries.

Ferries between Portsmouth and Bilbao in Spain have also been cancelled because of fears of severe storms at sea.

P and O Ferries said it had cancelled its Sunday sailing from Portsmouth to Bilbao, and from Bilbao to Portsmouth on 11 March.

The company's website also said sailings between Dover and Calais are being delayed by up to an hour because of the weather conditions.

Senior government officials met on Sunday afternoon to discuss the threat from the storm and to check that local authorities were prepared for floods.

Ministerial concern

The BBC's political correspondent Ben Wright said he understood that Prime Minister Gordon Brown joined the meeting by telephone and "intervened once or twice".

Ministers are said to be most concerned about floods around dawn, when sea tides are at their highest.

In Pembrokeshire and Cornwall, emergency planning were preparing for high winds and floods. Stand-by supplies of sandbags are being provided and extra police called in to work overnight Sunday and from early Monday.

Cornwall's emergency planning officer Steve Winston said a combination of factors, including high spring tides and a very low pressure system, could lead to a "severe" event.

Big wave
Huge waves are expected to hit the UK coast.

BBC weather forecaster Peter Gibbs said a storm of this ferocity usually occurs once a year.

Much of the severe weather this winter had hit the north of Britain, whereas this storm would affect the south and the west, he added.

Martin Young, chief forecaster at the Met Office, said: "It will be very windy for many parts of the UK in the early part of next week, but especially so across coasts in the south.

"Southerly winds are expected to strengthen during the early hours of Monday causing severe gales.

"After a brief respite, further westerly severe gales are forecast for later in the day and into the early hours of Tuesday."

I managed to go shopping earlier, but I had to get a cab. It was windy, but not that windy when I went into the shop but when I came out hell was all let loose. Not only was it windy as hell, but it would pouring with rain and it had turned really cold. I nearly got blown across the car park and I was holding onto my trolley. The cab came really fortunately.

I'll not be sleeping tonight with all that noisy wind and rain bashing my house.

It's calmed down a bit now but last night I could hardly get any sleep with all the banging. I put my recycled bins out, as all this street did and I had a large heavy brick on top of one the bins, yet this morning the lid was in the road, and the brick was on the path.

The bin below some of the plastic had come out, so I got blown down my path trying to pick it all up again. It seem to calm down half way through the night, around 5am but an hour later it picked more and pour down with rain.

When the recycled people came and took the box/bin with no lid, all the plastic flew up in the and some people paper and plastic bin's across the road were completely empty because of the wind had blown them down the street. I wonder how many cars got smashed in by flying objects.

My fence at the back of my garden is bending backwards. It's fallen apart anyway.

I wanted to go to the post office today but it was just too windy:(.

It's lovely at the moment here. It's just after 11am and it's really sunny, and no clouds about.

My temperature gauge in here says 71.5F. I've been in the garden to put leftovers out for the birds and it's lovely. All I need now is a pair of sun glasses as I can't take bright light.

The back door in the kitchen gauge says it's 80F but the suns out in the garden, so that's probably why it's higher at the back of the house.

It's nice and cool in here. I'm up stairs in the front of the house and I always have my curtains drawn as I can't take the light. As long as we don't develop humidity, I'll be ok.

Two tornados touched down early evening about 20 minutes from where I live. I had just gotten home from grocery shopping and it was really hot and muggy out and I turned on the news then the sirens sounded, but it was for a town a bit away, and then it was over. Then we got a bunch of rain and wind and small hail for about 15 minutes. It's over now, but we are supposed to get another storm tonight.

No, thank goodness I don't live in Tornado Alley way up here, DFG, but we do get tornados. You probably saw footage from Hugo, MN, Cat? That's actually not too far away from where I grew up and not far away from where I live now. It was all so sudden last night and when I heard those sirens, I was freaking, then the news said they were for a neighboring town and we hadn't even had any rain yet, then they stopped running them after 5 minutes, but it was still scary. I'm just glad every one is okay!

edit: I heard on the news this morning that one person died in the Hugo tornado. :(

story from ap --

London took another step along the path to becoming the knife capital of Europe this weekend when 18-year-old Robert Knox - who had a bit part in the latest Harry Potter film - died of stab wounds outside a local club. The latest deaths bring to 14 the number of teenagers killed in violent incidents in London this year. Last year 26 were killed: 16 were attacked with knives and nine died in gun incidents, while in one case the cause of death is yet to be confirmed. The huge rise in the number of teenagers dying violently in London is the biggest threat facing the capital after terrorism, senior police officers believe.

OoooOOooo we had a ripper of a thunderstorm rip through the NYC area yesterday. It didn't look like rain since the morning was sunny and warm, a rather bright day but then in the afternoon it started to cloud up and then thunder, lighting and a deluge of rain hit us. It was scary! I was looking out my bedroom window when I saw a lighting bolt cut across the sky, I live on the fifth floor and it looked like the bolt hit something because immediately after it lit up the sky a blue glow followed. I've never seen anything like it before so I'm thinking it must have struck something! This morning the news reports that a lot of trees came down and flooded many roads..wow!

Wow, Ketana! Sounds a bit like last night. I had to run to my brother's house for awhile, cause they were talking of 65 mph winds and bad lightening. On the way there it was extremely windy and sheets of rain coming down sideways. Just looks like a bunch of leaves and small limbs are down here.

There's been a lot of wild weather this year. Didn't NYC have a huge thunderstorm aearlier this week or last week too? I hope things settle down soon. Around here it can be really nice in the morning, then in the afternoon it starts clouding up and suddenly turns dark and all hell breaks loose with heavy rain, hail and tornadoes. My white cat is smart tho, she gets under the dining room table or a chair when it rains (so she doesn't get wet :D) It's worked every time for her. :P  My gray cat likes to sit on the covered deck and watch it rain.  Sometines she gets damp from the spray but her hair is so long she doesn't notice

It's wet, wet and more wet here. I think our UK summer is never coming. It's more like monsoon weather here. It's not warm at all.

This is sooo weird. A head advisory for Denver. It's supposed to get to 102 today. We broke the 1901 record for 18 consecutive days of 90+ degree weather. Today is #20 and this doesn't appear to be ending until the middle of next week. I'm so sick of hot dry weather. DFG and I need to trade locations for a while for a break :D

Well we've had very weather for change. Although I can't take the humid hot weather because we've had an wet summer and last year it rained a lot this time around I did not complain.

3pm we had the most awful thunderstorm and lashing of rain. It's now 4.20pm and the sun is out, there's a bit of clear blue sky but mostly white clouds. I hope the sun warms up my room as I've just had to put on a thick cardigan, as I'm cold:(

We had a mix of wintry crap yesterday, icy rain-sleet, rain, snow.  Now there's a mess of it to clean off the car before work this morning.  Ah the joys of winter.

Boo frickin' hoo! Heheheehehe...  We were at 18 degrees yesterday morning, we've seen snow flurries/flakes about 5 times so far this season, but nothing has really stuck.

Today it has just rained non stop. It's rained so much that the bottom of my garden is flooded. At this rate I think we'll need to start building an ark.

All I ask for for Christmas Eve, Day and boxing day is lots of the white stuff and then it can all go away.

We're getting rain now, which is going to turn over to freezing rain then snow. The temperatures are going to extremely drop with windchills of - 15 to - 30 below zero. I'm scared it's all going to turn to ice.

We've had a nasty weekend weather wise.  We got around 6 inches of snow yesterday, then the cold and wind came in late afternoon and now it's - 12 below zero with windchills of - 37 below zero.  I really dread going out again to shovel and clean off the car, it's bitterly cold out there.  And from what I did yesterday has left me with a sore throat and a cold in my nose.

Wow, you're getting alot of snow. After being in and out of the deep freeze the past couple of weeks, it's been thawing some this weekend, and will be cold the next couple of days before warming up again, but we still have plenty of snow out there.

Why is your camera in the closet?

We are so snowed in here that even the supermarket down the road is not open. My sister said where she lives they've had 10 inches of snow this morning that neither her or her hubbie and son could get to work.

Her daughter lives in London and managed to get to work but it's been snowing non stop all day that they let them all go home early.

We've not had bad snow like this since I think 1991. Bad for the south east that is.

Because I'm so short at one point I nearly disappeared into the snow. I wore my special Canadian boots which keep my feet lovely and warm and they have this metal thing you pull out under the sole which helps you grip. But the pavements were so thick we all ended up walking in the middle of the road.

I've taken some more photos.

This was taken this afternoon. It's down my road.

My backgarden

My back door from inside my kitchen and the plastic roof is so covered in snow that the kitchen is very dark.

I stored it away since my last trip.

Does the UK have enough snow plows to handle that much snow? I hope you have stored up on enough food until they get that cleared, stay safe and warm! If that's just a plastic roof, you will probably want to see if a neighbor can get some of the snow off of it because it can get pretty heavy.

I do not know. They have not even gritted the main roads yet, let alone the side roads and my road comes under side road, so it's not that important but should be we pay enough council tax.

It's been mashy today in the road as the sun came out earlier and melted some of it but I've read more snow is on it's way on Thursday. Well I look later and see if it's changed.

My bush has collasped again in the garden and it's now blocking the path:(

No I can't get a neighbour to clear the snow off the roof, it will just have to slowly melt off. And at the moment I spend too much time in the kitchen, too bloody cold in there.

You've got be joking having you. Plow trucks, we'll be lucky if we get our road gritted and remember I'm not on a main road, and only main roads get gritted.

We have still not got our rubbish collected either and our rubbish collection is on a Wednesday. You can't even get through to the blasted council to ask them when they are going send the rubbish carts out.

I think they owe me and the rest of the street council tax refund.

We just went through basically a blizzard yesterday, the snow came fast and furious, dumped around 6 inches and was extremely windy and gusty all day.  It's still very windy, but the snow stopped late last night and now windchills are - 10 to - 20 below, I dread going out this morning and cleaning off the car, no time to shovel this morning, so the rest will have to wait.  Winter is not over yet, ugh....it's been a long one.

WOW! Just outlasted a really bad thunderstorm. We only got hail but there were a lot of funnel clouds and thankfully no tornadoes.

Glad to hear there weren't any tornado's Chessie, bad storms like that always scare me. I have to leave here if there's a tornado threatening and I usually go to my brother's house, there is a storm shelter in the neighborhood, but I've never gone there.

Angel and ChesshireKat do you live in Tornado alley, as they call it?

Well today has been humid, but it's been nice and sunny all day. I went out for short while only to come back slightly wet as we are having one son of magnetic storm here. It's all dark. I hate it when I'm on my own and it's like this.

Tomorrow is going be wet. Well I've got no one to celebrate with tomorrow so I think I'll have to stay in tomorrow:(

Re last night. After the thunder storm went, we had an awful hail stone storm. It came down real fast and heavy, a bit scary. The plastic roof outside the kitchen door, the noise was deafening. Poor cats did not know what to do with them selves.

A bookmaker has cut the odds on record-breaking temperatures as Britain prepared for a heatwave.

Ladbrokes reduced the odds of the mercury rising above the highest temperature ever recorded in the UK from 8/1 to 7/1.

Thermometers reached 38.5C (101.3F) in Kent in 2003, but the figure could be beaten this year.

Spokesman Robin Hutchison said: "If the forecasters are to be believed the thermometer could hit treble figures more times than England's batsman this summer."

He added: "A nationwide gamble could seriously burn the bookies and see profits evaporate overnight."

The Met Office has issued a "heat health" warning for next week, with night time temperatures in some areas due to remain as high as 18C (64.4F). It is expecting some of the hottest days of the summer so far and said there is a 60% chance of temperatures reaching 32C (89.6F).

The Department of Health said the elderly and young children were most at risk from heat stroke in hot weather. It advised staying out of the sun, avoiding going out in the hottest part of the day and strenuous activities, and drinking plenty of water.

Rachel Vince, forecaster for Meteogroup, the weather division of the Press Association, said the warm weather would last until Wednesday and beyond.
She said: "It continues through the first half of the week, very warm and very muggy. We might see temperatures picking up to 30C by Wednesday. It's not going to be wall to wall sunshine, showers will break out in the afternoon.

"The most prone areas are through the central part of the country, as showers develop over land at this time of the year. But most parts of the UK will see some sunshine."

:devilblack:So in other words bloody hot as hell

I know alot of people in the UK don't have air conditioning, including yourself. I hope you have some fans to help keep you cool. That is bloody hot.

I think we may have swapped weather DFG. I can count on one hand the number of days this month is HASN'T rained in Denver. In fact last Friday we were watching a funnel in the storm clouds above the building at work. It was pretty scarey. Today is the first day it will actually hit 90.  Unusually late in the year.

The weather is just fucked.

Last year we had non stop rain, so even though I can't take this damn humid heat, it makes a change from rain, and more rain.

Wait minute actually we are forcasted for more rain, oh drat.

Our weather has taken an unusual turn for this time of year. After on an off thunderstorms and humidity and heat the last couple of weeks, the past couple of days have been cool. Our high today only 70 when we're usually in the mid 80's.

That's strange. Well lets hope you don't get snow.
Better to work in the 70 then 80 I say anyway, as long as there a nice warm breeze without that damn humidity.

We are unseasonably cold for this time of year and might break a record tomorrow with a high of only 64, normally we're in the low 90's this time of year with high humidity, methinks global warming?  We've been getting an inordinate amount of cool air coming down from Canada the past couple of weeks, it's actually kind of chilly this morning, only 57 degrees right now.

So Angel I bet your thinking like I am, Where's summer gone.

My brother and sister in law arrived in the UK yesterday from Australia and they say it is winter there and they have been having some rain.

They've packed quite a few summer things to wear only to find that our British weather is going be awful wet. Oh dear.

Anyway lucky pps are sodding off to Italy next week, so lets hope the weather is a bit better there.

I don't think I'll be seeing them much.  They are staying with my sister and her husband and they are the ones going to Italy with them next week for a week.

WOW! We had one hell of a thunder storm late last night. It actually woke me up (not easy to do as Angel, Ketana & Maya will attest) The rain was comming down in sheets and swirling around from every direction. It was so bad that 3 miles southwest of me, they have trees & power lines down and are recommending people stay home today so road crews can clean up the mess.

Some nasty weather today, lots of snow and blowing snow, the wind gusts are between 20 and 40 mph, stuck my head out the door and got a stinging face full of whipping snow, and the roads are horrible, took me an hour an a half to get home last night.  I think I'm going to stay home today, it's pretty bad outside, but because I don't have any sick time left, it's a point against me at work, but they don't have enough sense to close when it's so bad out.  On top of that I'm so stuffed up, I couldn't stand to be out in that.

Hell you'll end up with getting a really bad cold with the tempertures going up and down so quickly.

I woke up today, well I was up most of the night. Any case it was foggy and it's very cold outside. So I've put my gas central heating on constant because I'm about to have a bath and try and wash my hair and I need the house warm for that.

I'm in the little most of the time and that's where computer is and my temperature gauge says it's 70F in here but I can feel the cold air blowing in here from the window dowm my neck.

I've just been down stairs seeing to Kai when I saw white through my front door. I just thought it was a big white van parked outside again, but to my shock I opened the door to find a white winter land outside.

It did snow the other day but never settled much and then melted. It's a snow blizzard outside my front door right now and it's just after 12am.

I hope it snows on Christmas day, they would be so cool. Pardon the pun.

Our snow is melting again but it's very icy. I wore my Canadadian grip boots today and were my feet warm as toast, yes.

I expect will we be back to rain and rain and more blasted rain tomorrow and the following week, going by the bbc's five day weather forcast.

it's really nasty here, it started out yesterday afternoon as sleet, then turned to snow, we have around 4 - 5 inches on the ground right now, with another 6 by tomorrow morning, and it's very windy, we may get more sleet too, we're under a winter weathor advisory until Noon on Saturday, I don't know if any family is going to make it over today to celebrate Christmas or not. This weather couldn't have come at a worse time.

I hate that sleet/snow combination. It makes everything so slippery. We lucked out and got about 6 - 8 inches of snow at my house and about 12 inches at work. At least the wind hasn't picked up much, which is good because it was only 4 degrees this morning. My brother is trying to fly home to the Salt Lake City area tonight from his new job in Vermont. He's supposed to fly through Denver tonight. Hopefully they will have the runways cleaned off and the delays won't be a problem for him getting to his home & family.

Hope your brother was able to make it Chesh. You be careful going into work! It's around 33 degrees here now, and the snow has turned to rain on top of the snow, then it's supposed to turn back into snow, and won't end until some time on Saturday, so I'm staying put until it's over.

That sounds nice and relaxing. I was able to venture out of the house today after the storm was finally over, after much shoveling and scraping. The freeways are okay, but everywhere else is just covered in ice, the side roads are really bad and where I live the roads are pure ice.

We've had rain and rain and more rain and a thunder storm. The weather people say we are having more rain all this week ending with snow shower or sleet, or what I call wet snow.

I bet my niece is glad she's in OZ right now, all that hot weather.

(Feb. 23) -- The Middle Atlantic region has stolen most of the weather headlines this winter, but that's all about to change. The Northeast is going to be hit by a prolonged, major snowstorm in the coming days. Snowfall amounts might be measured in feet, and the combination of snow and wind will create an all-out blizzard at the storm's peak.

The details of the storm cannot be pinpointed yet, but combination of snow and wind will likely create blizzard conditions in the Catskills and Adirondacks of upstate New York, Vermont, northern New Hampshire, and northern Maine from later Thursday into Friday. Road and airport closures are likely, and the strong wind may bring down power lines and tree limbs. The intense combination of snow and wind might extend to areas close to the coast, including Boston, New York City, and perhaps Philadelphia.

While this will be the most likely time for the storm to reach blizzard status, it will only be part of what will be a long week of intense, wintry weather for nearly all of New England, New York state, and even eastern Pennsylvania.

The late-week storm will be prolonged, resulting in wind and intermittent snow through most -- if not all -- of the upcoming weekend. It also will be preceded by a storm earlier in the week. With little break between the storms, it will seem like a five- or six-day snowstorm in some areas.

The first storm, from today into Wednesday, will not be nearly as intense as the late-week storm, but it will be formidable.

A significant accumulation of snow will fall in interior parts of the Northeast, with a mixture of rain and snow in areas closer to the coast. Cumulative snowfall totals in the mountains, where all snow will fall with both storms, could reach three feet, with widespread accumulation of at least one foot from northern Maine to the Catskills.

Snowfall amounts will be tempered in areas closer to the coast, including in Boston, where the first storm will bring a mixture of rain and snow, and the second storm will bring heavy rain during the height of the storm. Coastal areas, though, will be pounded by a powerful easterly wind (wind from the east), raising the specter of flooding, beach erosion, and widespread power outages, and snow will accumulate in these areas before the storm ends.

The first storm is associated with the storm that brought heavy snow to parts of the Midwest on Monday, and the second storm will blossom into a powerhouse over New England as moisture streams in from the South and combines with a powerful upper-level storm system from the West.

Any significant accumulation of snow will likely remain to the north of the area from Baltimore southward to Washington, D.C. It will, however, be the defining storm of the season for much of the Northeast.

Ok, I never got to upload the pics of the HUGE ASS blizzard we had back in Dec and again in February. Apparently it was the storm of the century for little old Virginia

I took some panoramic shots with my video camera and edited them together to give you a better idea on just how bad it really was.

I live next to the woods, close to the Blue Ridge mountains and it gets pretty cold up here. Anyway, here we go:

THIS was my patio deck....those big lumps of snow are my chairs, fire pit and tables. The thing sticking out of the snow is a torch. This is the first blizzard in December

Oh yeah, I forgot to upload my blue Xmas tree too...sorry.

This is my whole backyard during the Feb blizzard.

This is the front of the house during the Feb blizzard.

Self explanatory.

Front yard day after the Feb blizzard.

So for those that thought I was exaggerating, HA !!

Well that was then, how about now? I am drowning in pink cherry pettals. I dont even like that color.

Speaking of the North Pole, I spent some time there, and they have snow, and its god damn cold.  I was the only subcontractor expected to work on the buildings exterior (NP High School), when it was toasty warm inside, we had to plow thru 2 feet of snow to get to our skylight openings.  Didnt help that my calculator was stuck on radian mode, which can sure muck up your trig numbers.  At least the north pole post office, store, restaruant combo had a good breakfast.  There werent a lot of tourists visiting Santa, across the street.  We drove a wrent a wreck, slippin and sliding on the perma ice every damn where.  The Aurora is cool though.....you have to see it to believe it.

Wow, whats with this Iclandic volcano stuff? What is creepy is that I have been playing lots of Bjork Youtube, and thinking of Mt St Helens ash.

I know plenty of people got caught in the daytime dark cloud of death, however on that day of Mt St Helens I was working on scaffold in the sunshine, checking out girls in Volunteer park, Seattle. The wind wasnt blowing our way that day. I have walked the summit of Mt St Helens, kind of a wierd thought, since now it is ash all over the planet.

There is this really really big mountain here, called Mt Rainier. I have been to the top, there is steam comming out of it. There are caves of talus and sulfur that go down steep and are the result of blast explosions, not erosion. I have explored a lot of caves, including lava tubes, but this one was a dont go there kind of thing.

So, Iceland....the mystical place where supposedly the most beautiful women of the world exist, stolen by the Vikings.

Up north from me is supposed to get a bit of snow too.  It's in the low 40's here, dark, gloomy and a cold rain has been falling all day.  It's wreaking havoc with my sinuses.

Hell you two are getting bad weather wise with all that snow.  We've had awful weather plus some volcanic ash, lovely.

I know where your coming from CheshireKat.  I too can't take extreme hot weahter it.  I think it's the humudity that gets me.   Without that I'd be ok.  We cannot win, we either get freezing cold weather, wet damp or bloody hot.

Well the bbc weather people got today's weather just right.  Shame it could not of been like this last Wednesday when it was my b'day.  Anyway better late then never I say.

The sun is so bright I'm having to wear the sunglasses and I'm in doors.  I do have the curtains shut but still the sun shines through.

It's 81F in my room but my huge computer has three fans and so I don't seem to feel that hot which is good.  I think maybe I should go out the back now as it's cooler out there.

Although I'm not able to take the humid weather because of my illness suffer with, I shall never complain about warm weather again after all the blasted cold wet rain we've had.

We had some bad thunderstorms come through last night. I just got home from work when the lightening started, then we got some strong winds and heavy rain for an hour.  Some areas not far away from me got some flash flooding, and there was a tornado a couple hours south of me.  Sounds like we're getting more storms tonight too.  Hopefully after these other storms leave it'll be less muggy.

It's definitely the hot season. It only cooled off to 71 last night. This morning I rolled into work @ 6:15 AM and it was 72 with a heat index of 75. High humidity too. this afternoon could get wild, it's supposed to get up into the upper 90's again and with the humidity, we could get bad thunderstorms.

Oh shit Angel, sorry to hear you've had awful storms.

Today has been very humid and hot but finally it has all cooled down.  It is presently 82f in here but I've just sucked my way through four friuty ice lollies which has really cooled me down.  And I've drunk my way through 1.5 L of watered down pomigrante and elderflower cordial.

The bbc weather men said it's going reach 89f tomorrow.  I'll be boiling in me own fat I think.

Have to go and check on my elderly neighbour later to see how she is doing.

It's going to be bad tonight again, starting in a couple of hours and lasting until midnight, they said high winds and torrential rain, oh joy. It's still very humid outside. There was another tornado warning a few hours away from me. I'm keeping a close eye on the news.

Yes lets hope so for your sake Angel.

Well the humidity is at bay but it's still nice and warm, comfortable warm here. We've had two days of rain and going to have more. It's very cloudy right now, can't see any sunshine.

I was slicing up cucumber yesterday that had been in the fridge, so I put a piece on my forehead and well the result was lovely. Now I know what they mean by cool as a cumcumber.

I think you ought to pack your bags and move over here, as this weekend it's going be wet but warm.  It's forcast to be 72 and 35% humidity and I think that's quite low.

Yesterday it was suppose to be 78F but it was more like 70F because it was really windy.

We had some nasty weather come through my state, not once, but twice yesterday!  Tornados, high winds, large hail and lots of rain.  We were under a tornado watch then warning, I had to leave my house twice for several hours to go to relatives houses with basements, at the second house in the evening, the power went out.  There was a tornado touch down about 15 miles from where I was and the sirens were going full blast.  Where I live we got a ton of rain and a bunch of wind an lightening, but our power was on when I got home and everything seemed okay,  hard to tell in the dark of night though, so I'll have a look around today.

Yesterday was so hot and muggy, we were at 93 with a dew point of 75, it hurt to even breathe.  The skies opened up and let it rip last night, with high winds and alot of rain an lightening.  It's much calmer this morning, but still a bit muggy out.

We're going through very strong winds since yesterday morning and cold, cold rain.  Wind gusts up to 50 mph and steady all day today at 33 mph, the upper half of the state is supposed to get 2 - 5 inches of snow and a rain snow mix where I am.  I couldn't get any sleep last night from all the banging, so I don't know if something's come loose on the house or what it was but it kept me awake all night and today looks just as bad, the wind's not supposed to end until tomorrow.

We are right at the freezing point a 33 degrees, and we're expecting to get 6 - 12 inches of heavy wet snow by the time the storm is over tomorrow morning.  I'm really pissed cause those idiots didn't fix my car right last weekend and I was going to go in this weekend, but now have to cancel, the roads are getting bad.  I really hate winter and hate that it starts so early!

By 2 pm in the afternoon we had 9 inches of heavy wet snow, I couldn't get the front door open more than a few inches, so I couldn't get out to shovel and it was still coming down hard. I managed to wave at one of my neighbors and he came over and shoveled off my steps so I could get out and do some shoveling. The snow bank was really bad behind the car and went way out into the street, so I called the manager and he came and replowed up to the drive way, so I have a huge snow bank behind the car that I'm going to be picking away at later, it's supposed to snow some more this morning until noon. I'm hoping one of my brothers comes over this afternoon to help with the snow bank so I can at least get out. By the time it's done, we'll probably have a foot of heavy wet snow.

Sorry to hear your snowed under. Poor you by the time you've shoveled up all that snow, even if you do have help, you'll be creamy cracked and not be capable of doing anything.

I really hope it's starts to melt quickly and soon. But on saying that, that can be bad because if it freezes over night, it will become black ice and very dangerous. Can't win can you.

Well the bbc weather people got it right, as I woke up around 11am this morning to find it was a white world.  I'm supposed to be going to the post office but I'm not sure if the cab will be able to come up my road.  I don't live on a main road, so don't know what those roads are like.

I've heard a few cars come and go.  There was thunder earlier.  Never heard thunder in a snow storm.

It's snowy and icy outside, we had rain that turned to snow, and it's very slippery on the roads, just barely made it in on time.

Drizzly, cold and overcast here in the Chicago area... which is fine by me.  I'm a winter girl, so the more miserable the weather, the happier I am.  :xmasbanner1:

A high of 55 down in San Antone. Too much up and down with the temp. Yesterday was almost 80!

Where as I don't like the really hot weather, I really can't take the cold weather either.

I went out side and tried to clear the path from the cat flap for my ginger cat, as the other one uses a tray and well you'd never believe it as it completely filled in again. It stopped snowing for about two hours I think and now it's snowing again. They say lite snow but it's still settling.

What an awful drive home last night, it took me an hour and 40 minutes to drive 16 miles.  The snow had started around 2 pm and there was at least an inch on the road by 5 pm, looks like we got 8 inches overnight.  I really hate that winter is so early, it's going to be a very long one.

We're going through a blizzard right now and will get up to 14 inches of snow.  That's not the worst of it, the worst is our temperatures are plunging and it's going to be 8 degrees below zero tonightand we're getting 15 - 30 mph winds.  I have no clue how I'm going to do any shoveling with those conditions.  It's going to take days for the roads to be decent again.  This is the 3rd out of the 4 weekends that we've had snow!

We've got Fog right now that would be the envy of London and Pea Soup. Took my sister to the bus station this morning and couldn't see jack shit much less my landmarks. Ended up driving around in circles trying to find my way out of downtown San Antonio. I hate one way streets!

Are you in the Midwest, Angel?  I know much of the area is getting hammered with snow this weekend.  I'm just outside of Chicago and we're due for snow tonight/tomorrow, but only about 4-6 inches.  I'd happily trade for your snow!  Winter is my favorite time of year - and, yes, everyone hates me.

That's awful Angel.  I hope you keep safe and your is safe.

Most of our snow has melted but it's forcast to have more awful weather next week, well that's what the cab driver told me but there is nothing on the local tv about it so my sister informs me.

Well you'll be in my thoughts.

Yes, Jedipug, I'm in Minnesota, the most gawdawful state for winters. I haven't gone out once outside, I've poked my head out the door and I'm sitting here shivering as I type because I can really feel the drafts in the house. It's been a blizzard here all day, so far we've had 15 inches of snow, and we're in the deep freeze now for several more days. My neighbor snow plowed around the back of my car, but everything has drifted so badly and it's still snowing outside. I had a knock on my door earlier, and a couple teenagers offered to do some shoveling for X amount of money, so I paid them, hell I can only do so much, so I'll have to buckle down tomorrow and get out there.

One good thing about having to stay in today, I got my russian teacakes made! *dusts powedered sugar of her chin*

Minnesota... I've spent some time there in winters past.   My Mom used to go to the Mayo Clinic all the time for chemo, radiation, various surgeries, etc.  She was afraid to fly, so there were plenty of times we ended up driving from Chicago - and it got pretty hairy in the winter.  Half the time we couldn't even tell if we were actually on the interstate or not...

I'm sending some warm thoughts your way - I hope they help.  No doubt those Russian teacakes did some good.  ;o)
