Holy shit!  You should have the room mate go out with a broom or shovel onto the deck and knock that big snow over hang down, too much weight on the roof is bad.  It does look pretty though.

The roof creeked, and there was a giant WHOOSH and the room got a whole lot lighter:shock:

Putting things in perspective.

Weather Bulletin - North Dakota

Priceless

THINK ABOUT THIS FOR A MOMENT.

North Dakota News

This text is from a county emergency manager out in the western part of North Dakota state after a snowstorm.

WEATHER BULLETIN

Up here, in the Northern Plains, we just recovered from a Historic
event---may I even say a "Weather Event" of "Biblical Proportions" --- with a historic blizzard of up to 44" inches of snow and winds to 90 MPH that broke trees in half, knocked down utility poles, stranded hundreds of motorists in lethal snow banks, closed ALL roads, isolated scores of communities and cut power to 10's of thousands.

FYI:

George Bush did not come.

FEMA did nothing.

No one howled for the government.

No one blamed the government.

No one even uttered an expletive on TV.

Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton did not visit.

Our Mayor did not blame Bush or anyone else.

Our Governor did not blame Bush or anyone else, either.

CNN, ABC, CBS, FOX or NBC did not visit - or report on this category 5 snowstorm. Nobody demanded $2,000 debit cards.

No one asked for a FEMA Trailer House.

No one looted.

Nobody - I mean Nobody demanded the government do something.

Nobody expected the government to do anything, either.

No Larry King, No Bill O'Rielly, No Oprah, No Chris Mathews and No
Geraldo
Rivera.
No Sean Penn, No Barbara Streisand, No Hollywood types to be found.

Nope, we just melted the snow for water.

Sent out caravans of SUV's to pluck people out of snow engulfed cars.

The truck drivers pulled people out of snow banks and didn't ask for a penny.

Local restaurants made food and the police and fire departments delivered it to the snowbound families.

Families took in the stranded people - total strangers.

We fired up wood stoves, broke out coal oil lanterns or Coleman lanterns.

We put on extra layers of clothes because up here it is "Work or Die."

We did not wait for some affirmative action government to get us out of a mess created by being immobilized by a welfare program that trades votes for 'sittin at home' checks.

Even though a Category "5" blizzard of this scale has never fallen this early, we know it can happen and how to deal with it ourselves.

"In my many travels, I have noticed that once one gets north of about 48 degrees North Latitude, 90% of the world's social problems evaporate."

It does seem that way, at least to me.

I hope this gets passed on.

Maybe SOME people will get the message. The world does NOT owe you a living.

--I don't know who wrote this but they sure did a good job of it!

We just had an icy heavy rain that left standing water that was starting to turn icy a couple hours ago, and now it's turned into snow and it's coming down really fast.  The drive home tonight is not going to be fun!

All the Alamo city seems to get is other people's melted snow. Dark gray sky all day today and cold rain (to us -> 44 degrees, "feels like 40"). Tomorrow expected to rain and warming to about 50 degrees. Christmas Day the report says sunny and windy with the high going about 60 degrees. For New Year's Day the weather.com says partly cloudy and the high going to about 68 degrees. (Around here Santa's sleigh better have wheels!)

It's a cool 24 degrees out side with a high in the low 30s and sunny, not bad for this time of year.

It's 54 and mostly sunny :D That's a very good thing because we could get another 1 to 2 feet of snow starting Thursday night, depending on how the next storm sets up :fear2:

Ack, Chessie, not again!  Will the 2 feet of snow you just got last week melt much before the next round hits?  Stock up on groceries and firewood in case the heat goes out!

It's nice this morning, clear and 32 degrees F.  We're gettting a rain snow mix, turning over to snow this weekend, which probably means ice again.  Yay.

High 40's, clear and just a bit windy but nothing we she-cat's can't handle! December has been surprisingly nice considering we could be up to our butt's in snow..so I'm not complaining..but oh hell was my bed delicious this morning..*sigh* had to get up and go earn me daily bread..which I am very thankful for..
