So how crafty are you?  Do you like to paint all your furture strange colors?  Do you make your own cloths? Are you like me and make your own cards for example.

Please post on what you like to do craftwise and or photos.

Crafty?

well I have been called downright evil, cruel and depraved but crafty? Nope..don't think so..painting walls count? Well if I do apply my cat-o-nine tails to their backs they do manage to paint a little faster but the splatter is so very unattractive to the cave walls!

buwahahahahahahahaha..

ahhhhhhhh..life is so damn delicious sometimes...

I just like to do I guess more techie stuff, simple stuff, capping, making little video and audio sound files.  I've never been much for making craft items, I'm more artistically challenged. ;)

Well damn, Maya, that is impressive!

I have the ability to cross stitch, but not usually the time. I did a purty dolphin stitch once and then I stitched 'All our visitors bring us some joy... some by arriving and others by leaving' on the bottom.  ^_^ It used to hang in the entryway before the move to the house. I also stitched one for Joe when he was born, with his details on it like weight and stuff... that had dolphins on it too. I've got this wicked Secretariat one to do, once I get the time and threads I'll need for it, and some new fabric as the last bit met with a horrid fate. I've also got two tiger ones I need to finish. I spend more free time, when I've got it, drawing. Not sure how crafty that is LOL but its what I do! :c030a: Luffin this froggie... I think I shall use it often and for no true purpose...

Drawing is craft to me and artistic and I'm into that too, although my drawings tend to me more like doddling.  But on the other hand when I designed stuff it's sort of like drawing.  I'd love you to post your comic drawings in this thread, if you like.

I designed these Vaches/Cows for a French website.

Ghost

German

I have two other's I designed which are Canada, Trinidad & Tobago Cows.

I made this coaster for Aenea, as she likes Tigers.  But I did not design it though, not that clever see.

Your tiger is really awesome DFG! I crochet (to keep from killing people:P) I need a project to work on to keep me sane. I usually make afghans, but lately I've been using up my scrap yarn on hat & scarf sets. I listed a few on ebsy this afternon.  I have a green & rose, a cammel, a blue, and a purple & dusk one (it's already sold), and this rose & pink.

I love your blankets, they are beatiful and colorful too.  I'm not on keen pink, but hat and scarf are nice.  Crochet is one craft I cannot do.  People tried to teach me but given up in the past.  If the doctors ever get my arms pain free, I can go back to knitting which I really like to do.

Here's some earrings I've made.  Some came in kits but I could not managed to do them like they said as I did not understand the instructions, so I just did my own thing with them.  But two of them are my own design.  They are not all that clever really.  All silver plated.  Those beads are mostly glass or real stones.

Oh thankyou, but I'm not talented.  I just like making things.  I hope everybody that I've made stuff for will like the items.  But I really do like to see what other ppl have made.

I remember when I was able to visit craft markets, I was amazed at some of the things ppl would make and what they had made them with.

I've been experimenting with my jewelery and now making charmed bracelets with glass and stone beads, attaching them to a silver chain.  What do you think?

I made this green one yesterday, just before I went out and was bitten by a dog in our local pet shop.  I'm so glad I managed to finish it as I can't make anything more because my hand is swollen:(  It would have to be my damn right hand too.

Thanks Angel, and btw it was not my head but my hand the dog bit.

Here's another bracelet I made but this time the chain came already made and I just had to add the glass beads.  What do you think.

Here's some more stuff.

I made this from a kit I got for Christmas,

Three different bracelets.  The one in the middle is my own design and the two either side of it came in a kit.

Some earrings I designed my self.  All simple ones, as I'm not good at designing wonderful things.  Some are from last year and some from this year.  My sister in law, my actdress niece, and my neighbour all had a few pairs of these.

Thanks:) I see Angel you like the pair that my niece wanted.  I gave them to her tonight as she has come home from E15, her acting college but she'll be going back tomorrow.  Poor girl the flat where she lives and share with three others, has loads off tiles missing of their roof but her landlord is not very good at sorted things out.

I too have quite a few jewellery boxes but most of them have stuff I don't wear no more.  I might get my ears pieced again, then I can start to wear some of my own stuff, lol.

The thing about all these handy crafts I like to do, I end up with loads of stuff.

I've been learning how to do Spiral bead work. The first two I did sadly fell to pieces before I could finish them. I watached a video online but was unable to d/l to my hard drive, so I kept on having to go back, in about eight times in all to watch bits of it. Anyway here's the results. I've made this Amber set for my sister in laws birthday just in the nick of time too.

The two bracelets were the first I made without falling apart, lol. I made the green one for my self and the lilac one I made for my English friend who loves that color too. My sister has asked me to make her a black and white one. It's her birthday next month, so she's getting that.

WOOOOOAAAAAA DFG that is amazing stuff!

I have a friend who makes jewellery similar to yours, but her's isn't as good [please don't tell her I said that] ;>

I've a great imagination - but I just can't do much. I have great visions, but when it gets down to creating them - a 4 year old child could do better [reminds me of a Groucho Marx quote]!

My Fiance said, I gotta start somewhere! LOL

I write though! I come alive when I write!

I actually come alive when I create too - but it just isn't as good :[

I'll get there though! I may post pictures in a couple of days - but you gotta promise you won't take the piss okay... =]

Your welcome and I'm glad you liked it.  I'm just glad I was able to make it.

My sister in law's love's her bracelet, earrings and necklace.  It is her birthday today and I've recently come back.  I have to shorten the bracelet a slightly though, but that's no trouble.

Here's one in progress. The necklaces take me a while to do. My neighbour asked me to make this for her to match the earring's her daugher made her. I spilled most of my beads into my keyboard last night and had a hell of a time trying get them all up. My bead mat has a mind of it's own, lol.

Oh yeah thanks Angel.  Well her bracelet is slightly different to my one, as I no longer have the same green glass beads.  I don't have the two green leaves on my one.  I'm glad I'm able to make this stuff as it comes in hardy for b'day gifts.  I don't sell any of my stuff, as it's just a hobby.  I give it all away.

I'm a Master Mailsmith and can embroider, tatt, crochet, knit, weave - all that kind of stuff. No pix at the moment though - restricted to his phone cam and the 'old tech' of the 35mm camera. Got a lovely ancient Praktica that does good close ups but without the scanner working its a little difficult to send the pix. That and cutting the size tends to blur the details - especially on the bright steel.

Oh cool you can do many crafts like me then.   I used to do a lot of counted cross stitched and even designed my own stuff.   I used to do a lot of knitting but because of my neuroloical problems it's too painful for me to knit now sadly.  I even make my own greeting cards when I can.  I've never heard of a Master Mailsmith.

Shame you can't post any of your work you've done.

I find it a lot easier to do small detailed stuff with this, I got it for my b'day last month:)  By the way that's not my embroidary, as my one is clamped to my computer desk, as I listen to music online and do my jewellery at the same time.

I did not design these, they came as kits. The one below I made for my self but all the rest of them I made for various people in the past.  They make great little gifts.

But now I have the pattern, I'm going make up my own without having to buy more kits.

Oh thanks Shenandora.  I should mention now, that those silver colored dragonfly wings, I brought, I never made them.  I only added the blue, red and green seeds beads to make the df body.  They cost me an arm and a leg those wings and right now I'm having problems getting more, as they all seem to be out of stock:(

Right I have all these boring plain plastic liquid soap dispencer's so I decided to decorate them. The first one I punch out all those butterflies, dragonflies, and leafs etc from sticky glitter paper. This is for my niece as I noticed so has just a bottle of bubble bath to wash your hands with, very messy. I just hope she likes it.

I was too knacked to punch out any more stuff, so I cheated and used sticker's that were brought from a shop ages ago now, that was originally used for my handmade cards. It's empty this one.

She makes it look so easy. I have everything but the plastic ring mandril and the wire. Knowing me I'd fuck it up anyway.

And as for this one, for some odd reason she's using a metal one.

There be crocs
This came in a kit but because the 34 gauge wire is so soft and it came all wrapped up by the time I uncoiled it, it had some many kinks in it, it made it hard to work with, so my first Crocodile was a bit crappy. I asked the bead shop I got it from what wire it was and why and they were really good and sent me a whole spool of it for free and let me tell you it's a lot easier to cut and make it off a spool.

This is the back of it.

I made these two recently. In fact the green one I made yesterday. They are made with silver-lined 2mm seed beads which I think make the Croc's look much nicer, what do you think?

My green one has no keys on it as I attached it to my zipper on my jacket pocket, as I find it easier to grip that when opening it.

And this piece of work I learned to make by watching a video on You Tube. It's a ladder stitch ring using 4mm facet crytrals and 11/0 seed beads. I've made it for my neighbour's daughter for her Christmas present. Yeah it does look big, but hey it's my first try at making it. Sorry the photo's are a bit out of focus.

Here's something I tried to copy via a video I download last year. I was unable to get the beads in this photo and I did not like the Toggle clasp they used, not that I could get that either. I'll show you their version first and then my one. It's called a Peyote tube bracelet and hell is Peyote fiddly and hard to understand. Took me four weeks just to understand what I was doing. Would you believe I gave up twice trying make them damn tubes.  Once the tube's are made, it's easy going.  You just have to add the bicone beads, plus the tubes onto wire etc.

Sorry they are a bit out of focus. I'm posting two of the same photo but I took one with a flash so you can see the Crystral effect of the beads which are called Crackle. They get like that when they are throw in cold water they have been heated and made. You get them in all sorts of colors too.

The below photo's are of a Gecko. I thought I'd see what they look like as earrings, so I used smaller beads. Anyway that's enough showing off.

Yeah everyone likes the blue ruffle bracelets.  The critters above with the orange feet are not crocs  Angel, they are Gecko's, you know lizards.  They came with a book called Beaded Critters.

I made this for a friend and loved it so much I decided to keep it for my self. The coil of wire comes already curled like that and you just have to add beads or what you want. I really love to blue one.

The gold mixed one I gave to my sister in law as a belated birthday gift.  She said she really like it.

Thanks Angel and Cheshirekat.

Here's another one I just learn to do. Photo does not do it justice as the butterfly wings look a bit wonky but when your wear it, it looks better as it hangs like butterfly. You can see it but those seed beads a are blue with pink inside which makes them look purple.

Back in 2005 I got given these two kits. The stitch was brick and I could not figure it out until this August when I found a on-line animation and now I've made it. They called Flower Fairy's. I wish you could see them close up, they are really pretty.

Right here's two spiders I learnt how to make via a video I up loaded on youtube. They are not all that great, as I only had green 22 gauge wire and I should of really had 24 gauge wire. I've sent these photos to the person who made the video tutorial to see what they think.

Here's another piece of jewelery I made on new years eve as I was waiting for my friend to take me to his and his girlfriends home to see in the new year. Anyway this is also from a you tube tutorial but not the same person as the spider maker, lol.
I'm right crap at taking photos even with a digital camera, so you unfortunately can't see the detail. I used 6mm Red AB Gutermann bicone beads and inside the beaded ball I put a large gunmetal bead which with the aid of a silver headpin I made into a pendant and then mounted it on a black leather to make a adjustable necklace.

And here's the first one I made for my friends daughter. It's made with smaller beads, seed beads in dark blue.

Yeppe with some of my christmas money I managed to get the right gauged wire and beads, so when I'm feeling a little better, as I have an ear infection and tablets are making me feel a bit rough, I'll try and have another go at making a better one.

Thanks for your compliment ladies:-)

Look what happens when one gets the right gauged wire.  Your Spider looks a lot better and no wires showing.

I got Purple and Orange beads, so I decided I'd make a purple one first.  It's the same one but one's taken with a flash.

I can't make no more, because I can't find anyone that wants one.  The two green ones look so cool leaning up against my fake pot plants in the porch.

And here's a better photo, although you still can't see it like I do, of the red crystal beaded bead that I still I've been wearing since I made it.  I even go to bed with it on as I forget to take it off.

That's enough of me showing off me stuff, me hobby.

I've come to like Purple too because of you and Loretta but I still don't like pink though. That's one of my friends favorites too.

I've been into red a lot. I think red and black look so cool together.

I just finished an afghan this afternoon (well I still have a little work to do on the fringe) and decided to take a picture. As you can see, someone (Twilight) decided it needed to be cuddle/sleep tested. :D

WOW that's amazing CheshieKat.  It's so beautiful too and no wonder Twilight is cuddle sleep testing it:D  Very talented you are too.  How long did it take you to make that then?

I've been a busy beaver this year. This is another afghan I finished that I want to try to sell on ebay.  I call this one my Sunshine Afghan.

This is the afghan I'm working on now.  I call this one my Drinking Afghan because the colors are Cafe, Claret & Cherry Cola :P

It's 58" x 66". I like to make them a little bigger than the original pattern asks for. That way they're big enough to share :D

WOW that sunset red and yellow one is my favorite.  Shame I can't do online shopping.  I've had problems with ebay.  Do you make those on a machine? They are beautiful.

For reasons I can't go into right now as complicated I don't have any heating on and I'm sitting here freezing.  Last night was really bad as it was gail force winds and rain and I had to go to bed fully dressed, with four blankets and my electric blanket on low to get warm.  My poor cats were so cold they curled up right up against me.

For ages and ages I've wanted this pattern kit, here http://www.beadinfinitum.com/Kits/index.html#Telstar. You have to scroll down and see the one that say's Telstar but I can't do on-line shopping.

Any how's I've finally worked it out for my self and wrote my own instructions down, well typed. I don't know if I'm making them way they do. What do you think? Baring in mind I don't know what size seed and bugle beads they used or what size the round crystal bead inside it.

Here's my version.

I would just like to mention also those boxes the items are on are all made from my gift cards that I was given in the past, using a video I found on you-tube on how to make your own gift boxes. Recently I brought some really nice Xmas cards and with some templates my brother-in-law kindly made for me, I made little gift boxes out of them and then just to be cool I wrote the same matching cards out to go with the boxes. When I get around to photographing those I'll post them.

You can recycle any gift cards, or even use old calenders, magazines, thick gift wrap, anything.  All depends on what effect you want.  It really saves my pennies on buying shop brought ones and sometimes I can't always get the ones I need.

I have the video down loaded to my hard drive now.  There are so many wonderful jewelery and craft tutorials on you-tube.  I have loads of books but I just can't follow the instructions, even the ones with pictures in them.

I did wonder whether the eyes were too big but I think it makes the snowman look cute.  Putting his scarf on was right fiddly, in fact I gave up the first time, but I came back another day and finished it.  I had to make my self do that too.

I'm learning to do origami boxes right now.  Have been trying learn all different ones for nearly a year on and off.  Anyway I came across this on my travels around the net, lol.

And for those of you thinking, NO, I've not made it yet.  I only downloaded for it's amusing aspects, that's all.

Yeah I thought this would put a big smile on your faces.

Wow these photos have turned out good, thanks to my neighbour who took them with camera.  This is one of my own designs.  It's to raise money for Old people in the UK to keep warm in winter.  Innocent drinks have been doing this since 2003 and this year is my first year of doing them.

No they are based on egg cozies and they are made that small top sit on top of their innocent drinks bottles.  Some people that buy them put them on their Xmas trees.  They have a blog all about it.

If your interested here it is, http://innocentdrinks.typepad.com/innocent_drinks/hat-of-the-week/

Angel wrote: Oh those are too cute DFG, did you make all of those? You're so talented! Yes Angel I did make all of them and there's not that many either.  I went a whole month without making them too.  I wanted to try and make at least 50 or 60 but my arm/pain condition are not allowing me to do more, so I  just have to sent those.  They only give you until 15th October for them to be posted, because they start putting them on the bottles around November some time and they go all over the place too.

Do you get this drink brand in the USA?  The reason I'm asking is I got an email telling me that even in America they are making hats to donate to Innocent which is a British company originally but I think some where I read they have gone into partnership with I think coco cola company.

Been doing some stress relief activities :).  The first one is completely finished. Kind of crazy colors to put together, but I had an image in my mind of how I wanted it to look.  The last 2 are works in progress.  Nice to have 2 different ones going so that if I get tired of one set of colors, I can switch to something else.

These are really lovely, especially the first two.  I mean I love the colors of the first two.  I still have the lovely one you kindly sent me last year and it keeps me nice a warm in bed.

I have no idea how you do those but crochet is one stitch I'm not able to do unfortunately.  My sister said your blanket was really nice too and she sometimes does the crochet but it's nothing like yours CheshireKat.

I love hand made stuff.

I'm trying knit my sister in law a scarf at the moment.  I started it two months ago but it gets so painful I have to stop, so that is why I started so early.  I'm supposed to be making one for my niece but I don't think I'll be able too now.  The wool I'm using is acrylic and looks like feathers sort of and it's quite difficult to knit with because you can't see the knitted stitches very well and I had to undo it 8 times before I got it right.  I kept on ending up with more stitches then I cast on with.  The kit came with 4 x 50gm balls and I'm only on my second ball:(

Thanks for showing us your lovely work:)

I can't knit worth crap.  I took a class from a friend of my mom's one time. I tried to knit a dish rag but it ended up looking like the state of Montana with lots of holes in it. :(  I don't know anyone really who does both knit & crochet.  Most people prefer one or the other.  I bet the scarf you're knitting is really pretty but that kind of yarn does sound difficult to work with. It'll be really lovely when you're done.

I ment to mention it's a Xmas present too.  I do know quite a few people who do both on the various boards I sometime visit.  Well when I've finished it and if I can get my camera to work because it's on the blink, I'll post it here.

You know I learnt to knit in my early 20's by lots of different people.  At first I only knew how to knit and not cast on or off and I only knew knit stitch and not purl.  Well of course I know how to do purl but I never really do anything that is complicated as I don't understand patterns and stuff.  Three of my nieces when they were little alwyas got nice knitted cardigans all year around.  I just used to use wool that had lots of colors in them and that would make up for the plain pattern I used.  I did have a go at doing jumpers but I'm crap at picking up stitches at the neck, so I just went back to cardigans.  And you could knit the button boarder sperate too which got over the not having to pick up the stitches on the edges.

Here's some gift bags I learnt how to make.  Some are origami and some are not.

One on the left is made from a envelope and the one on the right is origami flat parcel I think it's called.

Various card boxes, some made with 2009 Xmas cards.  Some I made from templates.

The origami gift bags red and blue ones are made from A4 copy paper and the one next to it from a free flower magazine.  The Cream box with the bear on it is made from one single sheet of scrap book paper.

Youtube is amazing as it has so many things you can learn to make if your into that sort of thing or have time.

I felt a right idiot because before Xmas of last year we had a family get together and three of my nieces and my sister in law asked me to show them how to make the origami gift bags.  There's me half way through when my blasted brain went blank and I forgot how to do the rest.  So in the end they never got to know how to make them.

So now I never had to pay for a gift bag or box or try and find one that fits any one item, as I can now do them my self and with lots of free magazine papers about.  I'm all for recyling when I can.

What is the name of that crochet stitch or pattern?  I am learning crochet now and in the process of making a traditional granny square blanklet, if that means anything to you.  It has lots of holes in it, lol.  I've always wanted to learn how to crochet too. I don't think I'll ever be as good as my sister is at it but then she can't knit  and I can.

I not able to jump for joy, so here's a icon that can:bounce_pinka:

Sometime this year I found a wonderful video tutorial on youtbe on crocheting.  Well look at this.  It's taken me two months to get this far, and it's not finished yet.  As it gets bigger it take longer to go around a complete square.  My niece said she might want it but if not I will keep it for my self.  It's continous granny sqaure.

Really nice work DFG! I know what you mean about your kitty laying on the whatever project I'm working on because Twilight was the same way. Both Twilight & Mu used to 'sleep test' my afghans :P  Your afghan really looks nice and your stitches are very even. Well Done!

Thanks for the compliments CK.  All your new blankets are lovely but I really love this one as it has the firey colors in it.  I'm still working on my gaint granny square.  I want it so big so I can wrap it around me several times, as I will not have any central heating when it gets really cold again, I'll need it.

:2567:WOW you've been busy.  Don't sale your self short.  Your crochet items are really nice.  The xmas stocking are really nice and it don't matter if they came up bigger.  There's no rule to what one size they should be.  Really like your ring pull bracelet.  I love it when people can be creative by making things that are laying around everyday or recylcing every day stuff.  Good on you.

I really love the Bee and the blankets are lovely too.  I'm glad you found some of those link's helpful.

If I find anything else that I think you might be interested in, I'll post them in your thread.

The crocheted toys n bee, bracelet, blankets, and head bands were some old projects I made last year. The newer ones are the stockings, the turkey shirt I had lots of foam and felt from other projects and the Zombie T-shirt was in Oct I think, and the diaper cake was the second one I made. I enjoy making the diaper cakes their is this super cool wheel you can make. If I find the link to it I'll post it up and share it with you. Thanks so much DGF for your compliments and feed back I trying to making time for crocheting. I would love to make a belt out of the soda tabs. But I do not drink enough pop for a belt haha. I can give you the bumble bee pattern if you like :3 thank you I do enjoy your links very much. I am going to make some paper snowflakes to type on my gma-in-law's window with some snow in a can I call it to add more flare.

One year on and I'm an advanced  crochet but here's a project for a beginner crochet.  Very easy.  Great for odd bits of yarn.

I've never made anything like the above photo, so I have no clue what websites are good.  Like I told my niece who wants to get into jewellery, she just has to google it and find stuff her self.  But you could try this site.

I'm all for recyling and this is a cool idea for making a pair of earrings. If you have an old out dated dress or t-shirt you could use that or even an old table cloth. Check it out anyway it's cool.

Just finished a baby afghan for a baby girl who's about 2 months old now. The afghan is 2 colors and is made in a patter n that makes it look reversible. I chose to work in pink & purple.

You did a beautiful job! Now, what's your next project?

Thanks. That crochet around the edge. Actually a 2 stitch combination, it just gives a nice 'finished' edge.

Could anyone here please help my friend Yolanda.  I have her permission to post this here.  She says if you can't knit or crochet, can you send some yarn.  Can be red heart super saver or anything like that.  She said the newborns don't need a scarf and instead you could make a small baby's blanket.

This is a photo of Christmas 2010, of the Children of 'Lily of the Valley' orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico. My sister Laura and I made almost 300 sets of hats and scarfs for the children at 2 orphanages. I have already started on this year's Christmas gifts. The ages of children range from newborn to 17 years. Boys and girls. If you are interested in donating a set of hat and scarf for the children please let me know. This year we would like to donate at least 400 sets, unfortunately there are more children in both orphanages this year. If you would like to participate please mail your hat and scarf sets to: Yolanda soto lopez, P.O. Box 211750, Chula Vista, Ca 9192

Here's a photo of them last year.  She can be found on face book and youtube also.

Oh wow that is so lovely. Good luck.

I missed this because of having no computer but to be honest I can't make huge blankets, they become to heavy for my hands, so I just make small items.
